Another day of _OC's_ curiosty........Do you have to have the latest bit of ' New this year horse products ' or do you just make do........Me I'm terrible,at the mo have my eye on a new Mark Todd light weight (Cob has four already

) and a new jacket for me,rather like the Mountain Horse Athena jacket(Do I really need another jacket...Nope!).....So do you have to have the lastest........or you could not care and make do!

I would love the lastest, but unfortunatley have no money, so have to make do for now. Although if i have any spare money left over, it all goes on my horse.

I have to make do I'm afraid. Running a horse, car, house and general every day life on one wage doesn't allow me to have any of the latest fashions. To be honest I don't follow trends anyway. I still rummage through charity shops for riding shirts/tops and coats and usually get really good quality stuff for fraction of the original price!

I got a Debenham's two layer outdoor coat that was originally £125 (receipt was in the pocket) for a fiver - brilliant for riding in.

I am afraid I am anti-fashion, I like my old stuff, tried and tested and lovely dull colours (brown, dark green, navy blue etc!)
I hate buying new stuff for the horses as invariably it won't last 5 minutes before it breaks (they don't make it like they used to!).
I do have a pink plastic fork though

We (my sister and I) make do. If one of the ponies need something then we will get what it needs, but we wont pay alot of money for the latest things. We get what is practical and will wear well.
And if we need something for ourselves (horsewise) we tend to get the bargins

. Or if its me i get all the handy downs.

i only really replace things as i need them.did get a new riding jacket a couple of months ago though

money is hard to come by in my eyes so i tend to try and watch the pennies as you never know whats around the corner.

Depends what it is & what price it is. Generally make do with what I've got unless I come across something special.

Went to HOYS & got pony new bridle, new bit I'd been looking for, headcollar & rope, grooming bits & pieces & some jods & boots for me. None of it needed but it was really cheap for the quality.

Generally though, I'll stick with what I've got. Only gear I buy for me is stuff like jods or gloves occasionally.

Did treat myself to a new yard jacket in the sale though. Local Ag merchants had a really nice 'puffy' one, the filling expands as your body heat penetrates the jacket so it's like a cocoon.

Reduced from £80 to £22 in the kids department. It is pale blue though...

I'm a total shopaholic and spend all my wages on new sparkley things for Mo. Very bad! And everything has to be navy, red and white, because thats 'his colours'!

I have a particular fetish for anything from the John Whitaker range. My red blouson jacket is awesome

Shame everythings horribly expensive!
Embarrassed to say, he even has a JW fly veil, and he looks like a right wee poof in it! I have to force it over his massive ears (especially as they're XF and the veil is only cob/full!)
Got my eye on a matching JW bridle and breastplate now...

Ok, confession time......

I have a lilac onside/deep plum the other side square saddle pad. Just the right amount of filling & looks lush on her but.....

It is a Thelwell one & has the cartoon of the little girl & her pony on the corner

She's only a fashion victim to the extent that everything has to be in black or red or white, which are 'her' colours

Although at the moment she is the height of fashion as she has that bright red Amigo rug that has been plastered across every horse mag for the past month. Not because of the brand name of course, only because it is red

In the middle I think (although horseless at the mo). If I need something I will spend ages looking for the right thing, but don't just buy the latest of something I already have. Wish I could, but don't have the cash. The zip on my jacket broke in late Oct a couple of years ago and taped it up until someone got me one for Christmas.
Looking for a new horsey soon though and as I sold all my old rugs (they were teeny) I think I feel a mega shopping spree in the making!!!! (might have to stagger it though so credit card doesn't combust)

He has what he needs, and what I need to make my life easier, although the number of rugs and bridles this adds up to is a bit worrying!

I like to buy everything for Athena in pink!!!!! I've even got a couple of pairs of pink jodphurs!!! Sad I know!
