Is your horse a luxury or a necessity?

They are a luxury in which I work damned hard to keep :)
I could live without them as there is always a RS RDA etc you can go to for therapy/keep you sane via riding etc, although I would hate to be without mine :)

Soulfull - really sorry to hear about your daughter. And I agree 100% with your post.

In the big picture of life in general my horses are a luxury, im lucky that i have a good job a nice home and an understanding family for support. I work really hard in a difficult stressful job to pay for my 4 horses.
They are a necessity for my sanity, seriously . i choose to have them instead of holidays abroad and weekends out on the town. Id rather have a xc clinic than a new bag, or a new rug rather than posh perfume, at christmas if asked what i want its usually new horse boots, a massage pad or something horsey.
My family have been really good about it, my husband does the festival circut every year and i spend time with my horses when on holiday from work.
So yes a luxury necessary for sanity :D:D:D:D

they are a necessary luxury;):D rather like a computer or a tv, yes i could live without them but life would be miserable. Me and my hubs went through some pretty tight times when he lost his business, we got rid of all the unnecessary luxuries like caravan and nice cars and the house! but kept the horses, had to find cheaper livery but there was no way we were going to lose them, at that point in time they were my little bit of sanity in a very hectic stressful world:o:)

My horses are a necessity to me because without them I would have no motivation to work or even get out of bed. I would rather go without food (and have!) in order to work every hour under the sun to finance the horse though, I wouldnt live off benifits for him - I would loan him out locally and visit if needed!

I'd love to say a necessity for me but if the chips go down in the finance department then sadly I would have to admit they are a luxury, but they would be the last luxury to go and things would have to be pretty dire.

For me they are a necessity. The year I didn't have them I was signed off several times (every other month or so), as soon as I bought my cob my health problems stopped.
