Ok so took Pidge out for a nice hack yesterday and he manages to come back with a cut on his off hind (I knew I should have booted him up

) and another on his near fore just above his hoof despite wearing over reach boots.

My TB was, especially if someone else looked after her for a day or two (holidays etc) She'd always have a cut, big leg, lice....wierd rubbed patch....sarcoid....abcess in her face...I could go on!!

Yes! Not major accidents but cuts and scrapes, constantly. I never, ever ride without boots apart from five minutes for dressage tests. I put them on automatically now, if I found I'd forgotten them I probably wouldn't ride

My Tb was a nightmare, a kick in the field was the end of him poor soul. He got mud fever, cuts, lameness regularly and ended up with KS, N and sacriloiac problems. In summer he would get allergic reactions and be all bumpy!

I got a HW cob instead thinking he would be more hardy. Haha! No Chance! He gets mites, has had a sprain in his ligament in his back (2 months off and physio), and although not an accident, does need IV sedation for farrier! Hes expensive on a weekly basis!

His legs are well protected even though he has his visitors some of the time!

Yes!!! I clipped my mare last week and when there is less hair all the scars show up much better! She looks like she has been wrapped in barbed wire all over her body there are so many stupid little hairless scrapes.
Was frowned at last week for wearing boots to warm up for a novice test at an unaffiliated comp at the weekend and everyone thought I was a wannabe dressage diva-definitely not the case!! By entering a dressage comp I do actually want to be able to do the test and warming up with boots all round and over-reach boots on is the only succcessful way of achieving this!
Horses could never be simple!

Well my boy managed to squeeze/force himself into my feed room then when he realised he was stuck he decided to climb over our quad bike. I was terrified but he calmbered over very calmly and didn't panic and amazingly he seems to be uninjured although the day before he had his pelvis put back into line so I really hope this little escapde hasn't undone that.

yes! and doesn't heal either so even more annoying. he's booted up 24/7 as cant risk him getting cuts on his legs as they always get infected. Horses, who would have em

Yes....when I live in the UK, Freckles used to keep the vet in Business!!!....Ive still got all my vets bills, and dontthink I will add them up,....but since ive moved to Spain, and she now lives out 24/7 with no shoes, ive not had any problems!,

oh my.... i though it was only mine, over the past 3 years i have had her.............
she trod on herself in trailer ripped both back shoes off and cut coronet band. She constantly cuts herself in field. She now has arthritis in hocks, has navicular, coffin joint disease, she has torm annular ligament, she has done a splint on near fore, she has had a cough all last week as decided she has done enough damage to legs!!! She is allergic to fly spray and had chemical burn, she got stung by swarm of hornets and had 50 stings all over....there must be more i cant remember. still gotta love her!!!!

Yes. How many horses jump a dry stone wall (rider-less and by choice I might add) but change their mind half way and reverse back through it, slicing open their legs and stomach?

He has now taken to galloping at them and changing his mind a stride out, skidding into them and taking out the walls with minimal damage to most of his body with the exception of his legs. What I am yet to understand is, once the wall is down, he doesn't bother to escape anyway... must just be killing time

I think Jack is the King of self harming.

We are lucky if he comes in without a mark on him. I am convinced he stands in the field looking at a tree or a hedge thinking of how he can hurt himself. He could most prob hurt himself in a padded cell

His name is Jack but he is now known as 'jacqueline drama queen'!!
