Thought I'd give So Kalm a try for excited TB also wondered about Thoroughbred Calmer from Global herbs. My TB is calm most of the time but when we hack out he can be very spooky and sometimes gets excitable and then its a job to calm him especially if it's on our way home.

Anyone had good results with these?

So Kalm doesn't work on my TB either, makes him more hyper as he fights it

so kalm didn't work for George either, he is generally laid back but gets anxious when he's on his own and rather excited when he goes on the lorry!

Sorry, I haven't tried the so kalm, but I have tried global herbs supercalm instants and they work really well on my horse. i am going to try the supercalm that you feed every day now, it will make life so much easier if it works as well as the instants!

I used So Kalm paste for my horse, and it worked brilliantly!

However, have you tried putting your horse on Brewers' Yeast and Magnesium Oxide?

Both will act as a 'calmer' and are far cheaper than the 'proper' ones.

I use a little supplement scoop of the yeast a day (start with two a day if your horse is particularly spooky) and I give four tablets a day of the magnesium. My horse has been on box rest for the last few weeks and has been as chilled as anything. I have known him climb the walls if left on his own before now, but these two supplements have made all the difference.

Calmers eem to be almost individual to each horse, what works on one might not work on a lot of others. So Kalm works well on my mare, although she is so large I have to give her most of a tube of paste to get it to work (but it does!)
I had her on the powder during her box rest last year and it kept her sane (tried taking her off it and she went loopy!)

So Kalm didnt work on my TB. Been using Topspec Calmer on my new gelding to help him settle in and this seems to be doing the trick. Plus I dont particularly think its a bad price. Its a v big tub for £18. Lot cheaper than Global Herbs.
Having said that I have just bought Global Herbs Superkalm for my TB mare, but cant comment on whether it's worked or not yet. I think what works on some, doesnt necessarily work for others., so you're probably best just trying for yourself. Good Luck and hope you dont have to spend as much as I have done in the past to find the right one to suit your ned.

Both work for my TB. Have given him SoKalm before dressage and managed the test without the normal stressing and tension. This winter he has been on global herbs TB Calmer and has been good as gold and much easier to handle than normal.
