Isabell Werth Wintect Dressage Saddle

I need some opinions on this saddle, I cant decide on this one or the Wintec Pro Dressage, from the pictures it looks like the Isabell Werth has a deeper seat.

Would like to know people's experiences and recommendations.

I really like the Isobel, I find it really comfortable. However I know others don't like it, but then I think saddles are all down to the individual!
 
I happen to have a 17 1/2" pre-loved Wintec Pro which I no longer need which is very cheap to a new loving home...

Actually I really like the Wintec Pro but as I don't jump the horse I bought it for it made sense to upgrade to a WOW saddle for him.

Thank you for that but I am looking a 17" maximum as only have 14.2 pony. I do want to jump occasionally so was going to get a Wintec VSD for hacking and jumping. Will check out the WOW though.

What about jumping in it ?? because I am not sure whether to buy one as my main saddle or buy a Wintec VSD for jumping and hacking, by jumping I mean little 2ft 6" fences, I dont do silly jumping anymore !!!

I have a wintec isobell and it is really comfy but I find my lower legs flap around all over the placeand it tips me forward. This is probably weakness in my riding position and I just need to use it more often. You definitely could not jump in the isobell. By the way equestrian clearance have a good deal on the VSD £289 including girth, stirrups, leathers and numnah. They offer 7 days exchange if it doesn't fit too. No I don't work for them, hubby has just ordered one for his horse.

I had one, it was always my dream saddle - and was bitterly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the saddle is lovely but the position is very extreme and my damaged pevlis and hips just couldn't deal with it, I too felt tipped forward as I can simply no longer stretch down from the hip enough to cope with the position, which is quite fixed. I had to sell it

so, borrow one and try it first.

Thank you for that information and sorry to be a pain but is the VSD quite straight cut ?? could you do dressage with it, I only do prelim nothing technical and not that often about once a month. I have a Fieldhouse VSD at the moment so I presume the Wintec VSD is similar. (My Fieldhouse dosent fit - hence search for new saddle) .

I ment to put 2ft 3" because I agree with you totally, once I got to 40 that was it, I cant believe I used to jump 4ft 6 courses and I thought it was brilliant.

the saddle should arrive today so I can let you know when I have seen it in the flesh (so to speak) I should think it would be better than a GP for dressage but can't be too straight cut as otherwise would be no good for jumping

Can you let me know please that would be great, by straight cut I mean more of a working hunter but more forward than a dressage saddle. I have been doing dressage, jumping & showing with my GFS VSD but I cant afford to buy another one to replace the other I have now, my pony has changed shape and being as sensitive as he, he just bucks and rears now but he dosent do it without the saddle. Because its got Latex panels it cant be altered apparently.

I bought an Isabel and although I really liked it because of the deep seat, it simply did not fit the horse because of the panels were too restrictive for her even though she is a medium wide, because she has low withers. (15.3 british warmblood and may have some Irish pony in her somewhere). Although we could get the width right, her shoulders were not free enough and she objected massively. So I sold that and got a wintec VSD after getting the saddler out to make sure we got something that fitted. The VSD is straight cut enough to look like a dressage saddle but has much wider panels so will fit flatter backed horses. She is also jumped in it (about 3 foot but not by me, I'm not brave enough) and she is extremely comfortable in it. So my advice is these two saddles have very different panels and you may find that only one of them fits your horse.

That is really interesting because I am looking for something similar in that I need to free up the shoulder movement, so the VSD could well be the answer and sounds like it is similar to my Fieldhouse VSD. When I first bought him I bought a thorowgood cob saddle for him and it gave him so many problems and he bucked me off loads of times and it was so uncomfortable, so I changed it within months, it was a dreadful saddle for both myself and my pony.

I have ridden in the Isobel the pro and the VSD so will make my comments

The pro i found extremely uncomfortable for dressage as the stirrup bar was far to far forward to allow my leg to hang properly.

The isobel I really like and have one still and use regulary, you do have to be correct in your seat as it does often try and tip you forward but as long as you sit up you are fine. I did need to play around alot with the knee blocks though to get them right for my leg to feel secure. Once had sorted them though felt 100 times better and they are the standard ones that come with them not the bigger ones you can buy separetly. I have ridden in my Isobel to unaffil medium so it is perfectly useable when going up the levels. Trainer is about to come out at affil med/ad med using hers!

The VSD (very slightly dressage) can be jumped in as i have jumped Fleur up to 1m10 tracks in one but i didn't really like it and the stirrup bar is too far forward for a true dreesage seat but if doing prelim its more than acceptable but personally I would get a more jumping cut saddle if stuck with just one saddle but thats my personal preference.

I have now stopped using the VSD and have thankfully got a jumping cut albion and a wintec isobel dressage which both fit both of my horses so its afterall only one saddle per horse

I had a Wintec Isabel for my welsh section D and I loved it. I had a GP for showing and the Isabel for flatwork. I REALLY loved it until I had a sit in about 5 or 6 different dressage saddles and then I realised that there was a lot of variation within them all. I loved the isabel but my saddler said it didn't fit and I had to sell it. In the end I got a Jeffries Falcon Hawk dressage saddle which has the deep seat but not so big knee blocks. I really like it as much as I did the Isabel.
