Isa's pathology report

Hi,

Thought you guys might be interested that I've just spoken to the vet, as she's just got the pathology/toxicology report back on Isa.

Well, my poor love had hepititis. Apparently she would have had it for a long time as it is slow acting (but not inheritable), and untreatable.

Some vets at Cambridge are doing some studies into causes of hepititis as they don't really know how dogs get it, and they've asked for as much detail on Isa as possible, ie what she did, where she went, any illnesses, etc. So here's hoping her death might be able to help other dogs.
 
Im so sorry to hear that, it is certain closure and you now know there is nothing you could have done to prevent or help her in any way even vaxes are not fail safe, still it's not fair:( Im sure the dobermans tests we walked came back as hep positive too.
 
O poor love. As Cayla says at least you have some answers and a bit of closure now.
How are you bearing up now? x
 
Cayla, apparently the type she had cannot be vaccinated against anyway. The type covered by the vaccine is ICH and she had CAH, the chronic form.

Vizslak, let's just say I don't feel hugely Christmasy! Because she was with me all the time, people see me and ask where she is, and I have to explain again. And then I'll come across one of her chewed tennis balls in the field. I guess it'll get easier, and I know it's only been a week or so, but it still hurts stupidly much.

See now I'm welling up again!

I don't really get it - I've lost animals in the past, you can't get to my age and not have, but none have taken such a huge chunk of my heart as she has done.
 
Some dogs just do that to you Jenna.I have lost many dogs and grieved for them all, but just a couple really tore my heart out when they went. It does get easier though, and you will be able to enjoy the happy memories.
 
They're so stoic.
Our girlie had a tumour on her spleen that had grown to the size of a football but because she was naturally quite deep (and probably a bit spoiled and cuddly) we had no idea until the few days before she died that something was wrong, still fit and shiny at ten years old and going for long walks.
There was nothing you could have done x

Hopefully as you say, Isa will be able to help others even though she has passed on.
 
I am so sorry to hear that. Terrible news and it's never a good time to get such news but even worse at Christmas. I hope the vets get some answers from her case that might help someone else in the future.
