Hi all ive just bought a lovely 6 year old ISH gelding. He has a green passport with an ISH studbook section inside listing his pedigree and confirming that his parentage has been proven by DNA testing. I have a couple of questions excuse my ignorance but can I change ownership to my name without going thru other owners - reason for asking is he has had at least 3 owners including breeder before me but only the breeder is on the passport also he wasn't named as a foal can I name him now and finally is it normal to change from a bay colt to iron grey horse - microchip is in order etc.
Thanks all any help appreciated:)

I would e mail the Irish Sport Horse Board (google them) and ask them what you need to do. There shouldn't be any problems I would think. Its quite common for them to send them off with un named passports, it seems. My mare was like that - the owners before named her.

We had a dapple grey that said bay, turning roan on her passport. She ended up grey in the end.

Oh good thanks, looks like I can think up a show name then! His stable name is Curry! hubby thinks it's a great name. He is out of Courage II and a King of Diamonds mare so I'd like to reflect his lines somehow any no no's in this respect?

That is an unusual name!

Always worth putting a search into BE/BS/BD to check that your showname hasn't already been taken, and its worth registering them (free with BE) while they're young so that you don't have to prove they have no points/winnings if you do decide to do some affiliated later on.

Thanks for the form advice. Yes Curry is an unusual name think they were thinking of Courage and not the food but hubby loves the food so thinks it's sweet. Apparently he has been called this for a year or so, I'm undecided yet re: name change.
