Can an ISH on a white unknown breeding passport do county level classes..? He is good enough to do them in conformation and way of going but noticed that the classes say that you must be registered to the relevant body for which are wishing to compete in...? Quite confusing for a newbie to county showing...?

Any help/advice much appreciated...

thanks xx

Registration with a breed society is only relevant for entering specific breed classes. For showing such as Hunter, Hack, CHAPS (coloureds) etc, you need to be registered with that particular showing society, so it doesn't matter what actual breed the horse is, it is all about "type".
That's my understanding anyway, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

^ that, unless you are talking about the ID pure and part bred classes in which case yes you do definitely need to have horses papered by and registered with the IDHSGB

Thank you.

just dug out his passport and its actually a Irish horse board identification document (what it says on front) Then inside it has a typed sticker saying that "this animal is registered on the Irish Horse register under number ....... Etc then if number is altered in any way you must notify the issuing authority.

then inside it has the old owners name Tommy Reilly and a Irish horse register stamp?

then under ID it has all been filled out has a bar code and a number for Sport Horse Ireland and another number for sport horse Ireland with an Imbossed Irish Horse Register stamp....Then A horse Sport Ireland section which has been stamped by the Irish Horse register.

does this all sound about right? When I send it off to register him to my horse with my name and address on - who do I send the passport to???? Irish Horse Register.....?

if he is a ID x Connie mix what sort of classes might he be eligible for at County level as he is small about 14.2 I'm about to take him to be measure so I know for sure.......

Any one who has any knowledge on this sort of thing would be great as its all new to me. Thanks

Can't help you with the passport issue but you will struggle to find classes at County level for a 14.2 ridden by an adult :( If you are under 20 you could do 15hh WHP but am afraid that's about it sadly.

The irish draught and irish draught sport horse passports are green. These are the ones you need to compete in id classes

Your horse's passport sounds all completely up to speed with the IHB, you must contact them to register yourself as the new owner (you can Google for address, phone nos, etc.). For showing classes, as long as they are not breed classes, you should only need to register with the relevant body (hunter/riding/horse/cob/coloured, etc.), as far as I know all you need is a passport.

Have he been shown at any level before? What classes did he do?
I'd maybe get him out to some riding club shows and ask the judges' advice, or see if there are any pre-season showing clinics in your area over the next Month or two? (Before anyone comments on this I know many judges at RC level are not accredited, but some are and they might be able to advise)

Yeah I thought this may be the problem with me being an adult...?

He has competed locally and won the classes and ridden champion etc so wanted to try some county shows. the classes I normally enter locally are riding club horse/ pony, Best ridden pony, Hunter as they are pretty general. One judge that placed him ridden champ at a big local show said I should do county as he was a really good type..... But I was so caught in the moment I didn't think to ask in which classes...lol..

So really don't know what he would be suitable for due to my age.

Thanks

Thanks for your help/advice guys might do a few more local shows early season and ask a judge....lol... The judge that placed him champ was also a county judge (I found out afterwards) so really kicking myself for not asking in which classes now....lol..!
