Isn't buying a new horse meant to be fun?

Selling's no better! You put 3 years into producing a fantastic youngster for competition, researcing bloodlines, paying stud fees, keep etc, price sensibly then someone who hasn't yet views your horse offers a stupid price over the phone then gets funny because you polietly decline them. You tell them what the horse is like, say it's 16.2 as stated in advert, then after asking an hour of questions tell you they actually wanted a 15.2hh. What do they want? You to chop it off at the knees? You told them the height at the start & in the ad. All you want is a home where the horse can thrive & have fun.

I totally felt like this too when buying my first horse last yr!!!! To be honest, i have also found winter difficult with my horse too but i'm soo looking forward to spring/summer and today when i rode my boy in sunshine i knew all the stress was worth it!

Well must admit, have bought every horse I went to see and haven't bought a bad one yet. But I do know my limitions riding wise. But mostly I've bought them young and backed them myself. Except last 2 Rocco I bought off a dealer, seeing the lumps and scars on him, has been through some tramua, but he's the nicest laidbacked horse you could meet, although he does boxwalk and my Hubby loves him and Lenny my foal, who has trust issues at the moment, but in time will be one of the best. All so I've never sold them on, thats why I have 5 at the moment.:eek::eek::eek:

I feel like this too :(

I was really excited to start the search for a new one but now im totally bored of it and fed up.

I am sick of trawling adverts, must of spent hours doing it!

I have seen 10 horses in 4 weeks with no luck.

Most have been falsely described. I have travelled in total over 1300 miles:eek:

I did find the perfect horse however he failed the vetting so was totally gutted about it and its that awful feeling when you know you have to start the search again :(

I hated looking for a new horse after my gelding was pts. I wanted a new one but tbh I hate change ... im to set in my ways :p I called about quite a few horses but only went to see one and bought her. She's a sweetie, love her to bits :) Good luck, it will be worth it when you finally do purchase "The One"!!
