Hey All! Happy Monday! I've submitted an application for the 2021 Mongol Derby, a 1000 km adventure race on a string of borrowed horses in Mongolia. I've been riding in various disciplines (rodeo/western, showjumping/ dressage) for nearly 2 decades but for the next 18 mos I need to start learning some practical aspects of endurance racing - horse/pace management is very important to me. I want to be able to push the limits without pushing the horses too far (and I'm worried I will "undershoot" because I tend to err on the side of caution...it would be nice to finish, and even nicer not to be dead last- one main goal is no vet penalties!)

The navigation and other survival skills I can work on in the mountains with friends. But I was hoping maybe I could connect with some UK endurance riders to start out volunteering - whether that's as "crew", a warm body to help exercise horses, or anything at all that I can trade to gain experience specific to endurance.

I am a working professional based in the Northwest (nr Chester) but am happy to use holidays, long weekends, and have my own transport. If you, or someone you know, might be interested.... please let me know!!

Thanks for your time,

Brit

I would suggest getting in touch with the Atkinsons based at Readwood Rehabilitation, near Burnley. If they can't help, I am sure they could suggest someone who can. Good Luck
