Issues with stable companies

I am currently having issued with a stable company. I have paid my deposit and ordered 12 internal stables. I am setting up a livery yard and have been waiting 7 weeks post initial delivery date for these stables. I have been told on a weekly basis to begin with, now on a daily basis for the past 2.5-3 weeks that the stables are coming. Then to receive a call at 7pm at night to say no they arn't. Is this usual with these types of companies or have I just picked a bad one? What are other peoples experiances and how do you go about resolving this situation. How do I go about demanding my deposit back and how to I not have this problem again?

Any advise would be brilliant.

I used Chart stables although it was a few years ago I never had any issues.They arranged delivery etc and I had to arrange to get stable down track.They arrived etc on time and spent day putting it up(it was 2 stables) but no problem. Very smooth transaction etc.

Am not sure how you get the money back though? Are they reputable who you are using I dont know?? Perhaps ask if anyone has used XYZ company as another post??
 
The reason I used them was because a friend had used them about 5 years ago and her stables are really nice. They were really helpful when it came to me deciding what type of stables to get and sent samples really quickly. But since then customer service has gone down hill! Its the fact that im told the stables will come tomorrow or in two days time and you know he has no intention of being able to forfill that promise. Ie if they are putting up stables near london and the factory is in wales there is no way the lorry driver is going to go from london to wales (load 12 stables) then to east yorkshire in an afternoon. But that is what I was told then there have been other simular situations.

I cant be the only one who has had these issues??!
 
well i would cancell the order and go get another co to do the job! internal stables are normally sectional and only require bolting to the wall and the corners!! phone around i am sure someone can supply and install quicker than 7 weeks! unacceptable in my world! good luck ..... but remember if the initial service is poor what will the after care be like? and any warranties??????????????
 
My advice would be to contact the fair standards trading office and ask for advice. They will probably advise you to write to the suppliers of the stables by Royal Mail Special Delivery to advise them that if you do not receive the stables within 14 days that you are cancelling the order and will be requesting the money back in full. If you paid by credit card then it is the card company that you can claim the money from. Also be carefull that the company is not going broke.
