Just a technicality - surely the first person eliminated for falling off thier horse was in the 1 star at Hartpury on Saturday as it too was run under international rules (FEI) ????????

Amy competed a horse called le samarai last year in the Rolex.

The horse seemed to pitch on a corner and went very very clearly lame - bot slightly - hopping lame.
AT kept kicking the horse - despite its lameness to the last fence and made it jump it.
This was despite people screaming at her to stop in the audience.

The end result was that the horse was put down.

Tbh - I think that we are all being a bit harsh - I don't agree with what she [allegedly, haven't seen videos] did, but...

Was I the only one *waiting* for her to slip up? Like every kick or pull she gave, I wouldn't have cared if it was anyone else, and when the Brits might have had a "ooo" moment at a jump, it was like "well sat/recovered" but if Amy Tryon had done it I would have been angry?

Its prejudistic [can't spell] I know, but I think I now have this previous "view" on her, and was watchign her ultra carefully!

But be nice guys, I agree that what goes around comes around - but that means you should watch what you say!!

Well maybe I'm childish but I was pleased she fell too - if she hadn't I'm not sure it wouldn't of been a lot worse. I haven't watched all the coverage as yet but didn't see anyone else riding so recklessly as her. Maybe there were some other examples of poor riding later in the coverage that I've yet to see. I don't think she saw a decent stride to any of the fences up to the point she fell. I know the horse is strong but she should still be capable of adjusting it in front of the fence or she shouldn't be riding at that level IMO. The horse was galloping on strongly (she was maybe trying to get within the seemingly impossible time) but she didn't seem to be setting him up for the fences in between. Just my opinion.

In laymans terms that means that we both think it was awful what happened Le Samauri but think you lot are all being rather harsh and personal by wishing herbad things!!

Neither me or Penniless have said we condone what she did with Le Samurai in fact to the contrary I think it was awful that he lost his life and through some seriously bad riding, yes I have seen the video and yes I would have pulled up had it felt as bad as it looked!! Only the rider knows if the horse felt as bad as it looked on the video, she has to live with what happened for the rest of her life, which in itself must be pretty hard unless she is completely heartless!!

All we have said it that 'We think' you lot are being rather unessesarily harsh and revelling in someone elses misfortune is a pretty nasty thing to do regardless of what they may have done in the past!!
I'm sure we have all done things in the past that we regret however small its never nice to have your mistakes thrown back at you whenever you screw up again!!

the fact is that however successful she has been, and good a rider she is (because you don't get medals at Olympic level if you aren't good, let's face it), she has absolutely NO FEEL for the animal. a beginner would have noticed that horse was hopping lame. She didn't even glance down (involuntary reaction imho if you think something's wrong), she DIDN'T NOTICE at all that the horse was so wrong, she was so wrapped up in finishing etc etc.
i am glad she's not hurt, i wouldn't have been happy if she'd had a rotational fall and been squashed, i'm not that bad, but tbh i think she should have had a far harsher punishment, and never represented her country again. It is a privilege, riding at that level, and i think she should have lost her right to such privileges.
hence the fact that i wasn't upset that she fell off. she was riding badly, galloping the horse on the forehand - i don't care if he's a puller, you teach them not to go like that! if little dots of girls from lesser nations can get their horses going beautifully xc in balance and rhythm, so should she.
as for personal comments about her size - there have been plenty about the brazilian man too, and other riders. I think most of us, if we were lucky enough to be riding there, would have done as the Brits did, and done some very serious fitness/weightloss work, for our horses' sakes.

I admit that my heart doesn't exactly bleed for her and I did post that it was karma. However, when I made my comments it appeared that neither she or Poggio were obviously injured and I do think it is distasteful that people on here are saying that they wish she was injured.

I was just putting forward, and asking if anyone else had, felt prejudiced towards her, and putting that topic up for discussion.

I don't think that saying I was waiting for her to slip up makes me childish or unfair, I just feel that all her bad media press has... tainted? my view of her.

I must admit that its a shame the punishment wasn't harsher and perhaps sent a stronger message.
When you look at the fight Duane Chambers has just fought (and lost) and the views that what he did was not in the spirit of the Olympics then I'd also say neither was what she did.
But she got there and ended up on her bum. I'm glad neither she nor the horse were injured but I am glad its taken her out of the running. There is something to be said of karma when her riding in the XC element cost a horse its life and now her riding in the XC element here has cost her so dearly.

Yes you have to have the spirit to win at that level but NOT at the cost of the animal who's guts and bravery will help you get there. So many riders took their horses around that course with more sensitivity then she's ever seemed to display in her riding, including those a lot lesser known and thought of than her.
 
Well I was very glad to see her fall on her arse. I have a long memory and am unforgiving when it comes to what I (and others in this case) see as cruelty for self gratification.

I believe that it was a poor decision of the US Olympic Committee to select her to represent the US. They are fully aware of the bad feeling around the world as a result of her antics with Le Samarai. I turned on the TV on as she was going round and before I knew who the rider was, was thinking that they were not going to get round riding in that way.

If anyone was going to fall yesterday, I would prefer it to be her. Unfair, possibly yes, but I just can't help how I feel.

Thank goodness *this* time her recklessness didn't cause the horse injury. When I realised that, then yes, I immediately yelled "karma" at the tv!!

Let's hope following this she doesn't get another place on a team to *once again* put her horse at risk!
