I've finally got to the stage where I've had enough with my Landrover Discovery! I'm sick of missing events this year because of a problem which nobody can solve.

I can't decide whether to go for a Mitsubishi Shogun or an Isuzu Trooper. I've driven both and prefer the Trooper and my heart says go for this but I was wondering what other people's experiences are with it as a tow vehicle.

I will be towing an Ifor Williams 505R with normally one but sometimes two horses.

Have a look at what members vote out of 10 for their towing set ups in my signature below

PS - I assume you will be towing on a B+E licence?

I've got a trooper, LWB 30ltr turbo diesel. Would pull a house down, very sturdy and you feel very safe towing with it.

Isuzu every time. I have had them for years. For towing
they are brill. I pull an Ifor 511 with two 16.2's in and you don't
know they are in there. I have friends with new Range Rovers
and Discos who have swapped in the past as the Isuzu is superior
for towing. A shame they don't make the Trooper any more.

I used to use my mums shogun before buying an Isuzi Trooper. Much preferred the trooper by miles! Has a far better turning circle and so much easier to tow/park etc.

I loved our Trooper, it towed our 16.2 and 17hh all over the place quite happily, only got rid of it when we bought a lorry and I couldn't justify the expense of using it as my everyday car. It was great to tow with and lovely to drive.

I am a fan of the Trooper too, I wasn't sure at first as I replaced my trust old fourtrack with one 2 years ago, I had had the fourtrack for 5 years and it could pull a house down, But I love the trooper now and find it more comfortable than the fourtrack and is a decent everyday car as well.

Another yes yes yes for the Isuzu here- I totally love mine, I have the LWB one with a pick up back and it just seems to go through everything (fingers crossed it continues to) :-)
