I've seen a 3.0 td on a local garage website so may go and look tommorow as we want to change our Jeep. Can anyone tell me pros and cons of them and what the mpg will be?

I love mine, I have the 3.1 version, I have heard bad things about the 3.0 litre version, but not sure what the querks were, certainly everyone I know and hear from rates the 3.1 engine. Not sure of MPG but about the same as a disco I think.

Ahh should have done a search on here before posting! just done it and found - yes avoid the 3.0 version - saved myself a trip tommorow!

Ive had my 3.1 turbo diesel for 6 years now and its fab. Great towing machine and good on fuel. The issues with the 3.0 versions are that they had problems with the fuel injection systems and had to be recalled to have the necessary work done on them. Mine is an N reg and just keeps going and going. Will be a very sad day when Suzi no longer lives. Look for one like mine and you should be ok.

i have a monterey ,rebadged isuzu and love it .also heard bad things re the 3.0 litre.you need the 3.1 .

What they have all said! Tommy Trooper is a 3.1 and 15 years old and still going strong

I bought one not so long ago, lovely car - good towing machine, mine's 3.1, I was advised to avoid the 3.0ltr.

yep, another vote for the 3.1TD. Mine was a vauxhall monteray called Ruby Vaux ( excatly the same as Isuzu Trooper) and she served me well for 10 years. Highly recommend.

ps I do have a TD5 landrover now and can highly recommend those too lol

I had one last year, great tow car in comfort but unfortuately the b****d garage sold me one that was completely rotten underneath so it had to go.
