I went for an early morning hack on my lovely chestnut chap (retired GSP) with my neighbour. I haven’t ridden since last year (not even during Winter) due to me having back/neck/jaw problems (TMJ – have to pop the pain relief sweetie things down) and have lost my confidence a bit too as it’s been so long.

I used to hack out with my YO who rode my old boy, but he is not rideable at the moment and may not be again. I used to be able to ride out on my own and would like to get there again this year… we will see!

It was so lovely out this morning I didn’t have to worry about the horse in front tossing head and tail twitching as this used to set off my chestnut chap - having a big buck or two.

My chap was such a good boy too especially going out with a mare! Think he thought his luck had changed!

We met all the road work signs and a big digger in the field next to the lane and really didn’t bother him as well as bike riders, and dog walkers and a couple of horse riders on the bridleways.

When we got home he had a lovely juicy carrot and a shower (with my lovely Mobiwash) and I did too. We plan to hack out again tomorrow morning. Onwards and upwards.

So very happy with my enormous pony. Sorry to waffle!!!

so pleased for you :)

I have a very dodgy back, and a full of beans youngster, so I know where you're coming from. The weather is just so lovely atm, we are making the most of it, and tbh, the riding does help my back no end - it's when he's bucked me off (see my saddle post ;)) that things have gove tits up !
