Just a happy post, buzzing after my lesson today as Pip was amazing. Never thought I'd have a horse this talented, he floated round, and enjoyed it too! Nearly made this exact same post yesterday, as he was amazing then, and the day before, and the day before that. :D

It's been a rollercoaster with him, and there are times when I have come so so close to giving up competing, but I just wanted to say if you feel like you're not getting anywhere with your horse, persevere, the hard work pays off eventually!! :D He is a very complicated horse to ride, made me realise I really needed to up my riding skills! :o It's taken two years but we have just turned a corner, and he's realised he is a dressage pony not a racehorse!

Happy happy happy, and so pleased with Pipkin! :D
 
Well done both of you, achieving such results doesn't come by accident, you deserve it.
Wouldn't it be great if we could bottle moments like these for opening during the times when its just hard slog ?

Good to hear, takes time and work and then some more time and work but nice to hear when it comes right :)
 
I need to rope poor boyfriend in to take pictures haha!!

I know, I thought I would write it down so if it all goes a bit wrong I can read this post back to myself!! :p Also if people are feeling that their horse is hopeless, it get's better I swear!

Just happy :D It felt for about 18 months that the more time and effort I put in the worse he would get, but it's just all come together and it's an amazing feeling! He's the first horse I've trained myself and it's been the best thing ever (though like I said, lots of frustration and tears involved!!! ;) )
 
You must feel so proud of not just him but yourself too, all that hard work does pay off. Would be lovely to see some pictures of you both floating. :) I can show them to my boy it might get him to follow suit, as he totally ignores me half the time!

On the subject of photos, what happened to the bareback photo in your signature? I thought that was a fabulous picture
 
Also, I just wanted to say that you and a few others on this site are provide such a wonderful example to current and future owners of ex racers. :)

It's a bloody slow journey to turn them around, but so so worth it, would do it again in a heartbeat! (easy to say when it's going well, I know!!)

I forgot about the bareback pic, I might put it back in there :D
 
It honestly is!! ;)

This is the horse that I had to withdraw from his first ever dressage because I couldn't get him between the white boards. And I am not a (hugely ;) ) feeble rider, I had a helpful sister to give me a lead, but we are talking rearing to the extent I considered jumping off, cantering backwards (which I didn't know was possible) broncing and nearly galloping through a glass viewing window. Because I asked him to go between two white planks of wood :rolleyes: The spectators were having a great time though. It was all unexpected because he's a dobbin at home, but what I'm saying is that when it was bad it was really bad :o I reckon they do it so you appreciate the good bits :p
 
NMT and PS (Diamonds in the Rough Dressage) gave me so much inspiration, because they've done so well with their horses! Gave me a kick up the bum too to get out and do more :D
