It always amazes me how quickly feet can change!

Good horn genes are both a blessing and a pain in the... back, knees and hand lol!

My mare was initially trimmed on 04 July and at the time her front feet looked like back feet, I gave them a tiny rasp on 18 July, and then again a more "serious" rasp on 31 July, mainly just to try and keep a check on the growth. At the moment she is schooling three times a week in an abraisive sand school (for 20-25 mins) and hacking for 40 mins twice a week. As she gets fitter I'll be able to do a bit more, but as she hasn't really done any work, she doesn't have the right muscles to do more at the moment.

Left fore: 04 Jul, 18 Jul and 31 Jul

And yes, I'm aware that the walls are still much too long, but I'm working on the theory that if I do a little and often I'll never do too much to do any harm. I really need a sharper rasp though, her feet are like iron!

Definitely looks like a front hoof now. Perhaps you need to learn how to use nippers? lol Any concrete she can spend time on?
