I’m still in love.... and infuriated.... and deafened.... and wishing I’d never set eyes on this little yapping monster.... but totally besotted by him and I’d protect him with my life 🙄😂😂😂 He is SO noisy whenever he is excited about life (and as a terrierist that’s most of the time!) but just so cute ❤️

He makes the greyhounds and lurchers seem even more like absolute angels, I will never ever complain about mad Millie lurcher ever again even though she shows no signs of growing up at 3 1/2!!!

George loves heat.... and is now an amazingly svelte terrier 😄

He looks like a sawn-off lurcher Levrier!!! :p So much slimmer and a happy looking chap. :) My terrierist has just hit puberty I think....and I have just realised what exactly it is to own a terrier. I adore mine too and sadly have realised that where I could out-brain my greyhound/lurcher/houndy thing, I have to be more on the ball with Red. It's a strain.:D:D

I’m suddenly feeling really guilty... it doesn’t take much 🙄....I honestly haven’t been starving him or anything 😳😄😄

Just to reassure everyone, George has more than the recommended amount of Arden Grange chicken and rice kibble per day plus he usually manages at least 3 filled Kong toys with either raw mince or kibble in, as he can’t be left without a distraction or (guess what!) he yaps! 😆

He does love his walks though and buzzes around on the end of his flexi lead like a little Duracell terrier, just so cute to watch 😂 He seems to have endless energy even at 11 years old (is that a terrier thing?) although I try to restrict him to 3 or 4 miles at the most....

He doesn’t look thin at all, but I don’t remember him having muscles before which you can clearly see now. 😀

Mines 13 and hasn’t slowed down at all. I think maybe she sleeps slightly more, but you’d think she was at least half her age when she’s out on a walk or looking for mice in the stables.

I love love love terriers! And no don’t feel guilty, he looks perfect! There are lots of overweight terriers around, but I much prefer seeing them trim!

Our terrier never tires when we’re out but sleeps like a log whenever we’re at home!

Well done for taking on George, you've turned his life around.

Its amazing what a good diet and exercise can do.

I adopted Ben, JRT, via the Dog's Trust. His owner had gone into sheltered housing and Ben was a small shapeless, yellow (nicotine stained) creature. I was told he was 9 but my vet thought he was older. With exercise and a good diet he blossomed and had a new lease of life and despite the cancer lived until he was 16 (possibly older).

I think you got the short straw ;). Ben rarely barked, he had a big bark for a small dog - no yapping fortunately.

Phew thank you 😊 He is such a sweetie I didn’t want anyone to think I’d been deliberately starving him!

I just wish I found it as easy to get in shape myself 🙄

Terrierists do steal your heart, Im a spaniel girl, always have been but when Archie was born 6 years ago (his mum belongs to my yard buddy and I always loved her) I put my name down from day 1 to be his owner. He is naughty, cheeky, can be yappy and so not like a spaniel its unreal but we love him dearly and cannot imagine life without him. He comes out in the lorry with us and is an all round good guy, our only disappointment is that he refuses point blank to kill the rats that appear in the garden and when we had a mouse in the house, he wasnt overly keen on getting involved!

Ahhh me and OH were just talking about George this morning! He looks amazing Lev, he's lost his neck-rolls, he's shiny and healthy looking. You've done a grand job with him. The little reprobate!
Haha those front legs are the pits aren't they, bless him, too much exercise too young maybe, or just his natural conformation.
So glad he's fallen on his paws with you. x

Aww, love him 😍

He's a really similar build to Dee actually now he's lost his podge. I always look at her and think that that conformation should not work, but somehow she pulls it off.

ETA: people often think Dee is a puppy still, and she's the same age as G

Gosh, don't feel guilty for having a healthy, slim dog. There's sooooooo may obese pooches out there, it's easy to forget what a healthy one should look like.

When I first got Willow she weighed in at a hefty 28kg, which for a small springer, was ridiculous. She's now about 18kg and I look at her sometimes and think she looks a bit skinny but (as my vet says) it's far better to be on the lean side, than the other way. Especially as they get older or have health issues, like Willow does with her knees.

At 11 years old, he might have another 10 years in him yet!! I had a JR live to 20. Got her at 16, figured she would last maybe 6 months but she went on another 4 years. Awwww loved her dearly :)
