It just had to happen

Oh V, I'm really sorry. I can't think of anything that others haven't already suggested.

Maybe we should all sponsor you to the tune of £1 a week and he could become "HHO Snoopmeister", but obviously we wouldn't get a say in what you did with him cos we could never all agree on anything.

Thanks guys.
I didn’t realise my parents are going through a bad patch with bad debtors which is why they are worried about money too.
They don’t want me to sell Snoopy, they really like him too, and although my dad kept saying about selling him during the summer, he’s realised what a super little horse he is!
There are a couple of options. Mum has finally realised that it would be sods law that bertie would end up needing to be pts if I sell snoop. I may try and bring bertie home and get him a friend (Shetland) to keep him company for the winter.
I only have a very small field at home but it would be enough for him.
I don’t know anyone who would loan Winston, unless he was kept with me, because I have finally got him sound and it would be sods law he would go lame and I would end up having him back.(so anyone in North Oxford who would love a dressage pro and super hack to be kept at my yard let me know.
I really don’t think loaning snoopy is an option either.

Anyway, there are a few things to think about atm.
will keep you posted

Thanks Holly.
I would love to keep him. Mums worried selling him will send me back into depression again too. Im sure it wont although I would be sad to see him go.

I couldnt speak to dad last night, as he was a bit umm stressed! but maybe bring berts home would be okay? i just hope it doesnt send him the other way as he seems so happy atm.

I've got a shetland that you could borrow when I've sold Owen! She is v.sweet but very bossy with geldings tho( she bossed Owen around but Ellie is a girl power kind of girl so she wouldnt put up with it!)
you coul advertise Winston on Horsequest, you'd get loads of people enquiring, then you could pick and choose the best person.

Thanks DoftD.
I may come back to you on the shetland

Bertie is terrified of them, but im sure he will get used to the idea lol

Its just another thought.

I need to sit down with parents with the options and then go to YO with them ie about the hay situation. Im padding out the stables with rubber matting (done one, just got two more to do) which will cut down on straw immediately! I jsut dont think i will use £160 worth of hay a month with 3 horses!

Really sorry to hear abotu your situation BBs, hope you can get things sorted and keep Snoopy, must be so hard for you trying to find a solution!

p.s DofftheDerby, your horse looks gorgeous in your sig pics!

Hope so Sue.

Just a shame you live so far away, or Bertie could have come and lived with you

BTW the stables you are having installed are the same as what we had at the old yard - very good indeed.

I'll take that as a compliment. Actually have a new horse now. I am sharing a 16.3 10yo warmblood (lightweight). I might just be back eventing next season so you'd better keep snoop.

Atm £25 per horse per week.

Will increase to £40 per horse per week.

I have walker (which i have to pay for), an arena which im the only one who uses it. Its only me and YOs pony on the yard. The top yard has a few other liveries which only hack or hunt so dont use the facilities.
I do have 100 acres to ride round, but turn out is limited in the winter in that last year they were in for 4 months.
I also have to poo pick the paddocks.

I work 9-5 the yard is 5 minutes away from work, and 10 minutes from home.

Its just that im running out of hours in a day! i dont want to wipe myself out like i did last year as i ended up not enjoying the horses. Plus was very ill over this summer.

FAN BLOOMING TASTIC!
Thats great news, missed you on here!

Hows it all going?

Yes of course its a compliment, not just ANYONE gets the offer of super winston you know!

Early days yet (only had him since sunday) but so far couldn't ask for more. He's on private DIY livery at Moulton Colledge so I have fantastic facilities which is a new experience for me.
Owner is brilliant. Horse has potential to be really good but needs work (flat). Apparently he loves XC but I haven't tried (yet). Temp to die for.

Hey Vix

Just seen this and I'm so sorry that you are having to make any decisions at all.

I know that you almost came to having to have Bert pts last year as he didn't winter well. It may be something you should keep in mind.

Winnie doesn't seem to be the ideal loan horse as not everyone will want to loan a horse where the owner is, in case they fear interference.

Snoop is amazing, and I'd say a winter with you to hunt and get him a bit world wiser would be great, then you can sell him as fit and ready to PN and N? You would also be able to jump some BSJA on tickets and get some DC's in. That way if you have had to have Bert pts, you've kept your project, and will be in a position next spring summer to either cash in your savings account or at least trade it for another one.

Being aware of your background, Berts age and dislike of winter, your fondness of Snoops and that you've got yourself into a 'happy place', it would not be ideal to upset the apple cart just yet.

Bigs hugs to what ever you decide, and if you want to chat let me know.

Bx

ps - did hear back from Sam - he's now confused me even more tho !!!

Thanks Bandit.
Bertie went through winter okay, it was before the winter i was going to have him PTS.
Having him pts isnt an option atm, dont even go there with my parents! they bought him for me, in their eyes its the very least i can do for him in later life!

Having winston with me is only because I will miss him terrible plus be able to keep and eye on him. Im not bother about doing the stuff, i just want someone to pay and ride him, pay for his shoes and livery. Im happy to muck him out etc.

Snoopys already has a BSJA DC. Placed at PN and working elementary level dressage.
It would be ideal to sell him now, as in all honesty I dont have the money to compete him over the winter. Unless I can find another way of making some money.
Ive asked a friend who has just set up a business if they need any typing done i can do it in an evening.
With that, maybe having bertie at home and possible few teachings I might be able to scrape the cash together to compete as well as not sel the little guy.

All up in the air atm.

ARGH damn men lol

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation BBs, I wish there was something that we could do for you.

We bought Boo as our "project" horse and it looks like he will be staying. Everyone just kind of fell in love with him and he turned out to be far more talented than we dreamed

Surely there must be someone who lives up there near you, who can't afford to buy a horse but would love the opportunity to be able to ride and look after one, can you not place an advert somewhere?

Fingers x'd you manage to find the perfect solution.xx

You were only paying £25 per week for all your hay, straw, stable, field, school etc? That was such a bargain. I pay £20 just for the stable and field and school. I don't blame her for putting it up. It was really really cheap. £40 a week does seem a bit much as I wouldn't get thru £20 hay/straw in a week - probably about £15.

ok - got to the post after you've had other suggestions so prob a day late LOL!! doign too much on other sites getting research :-)

Seems you may have things sorted in that case. I hope so as it's a very hard situation to be in.

Fingers crossed for you hun.

Bx

men - who can figure them.

Oh hunny - I've just seen this post! I really do hope that you get something sorted out - glad your parents are onside!

I know for a fact that I don't use that much hay for my 3 - they get hay at night, out 24/7 and they get more and eat ALL of it than they would if stabled.
