people let their male dogs pee on everything!
The yard today were 2 visiting black labs (I like labs!) They cruised into the stables and tack room for a sniff and a pat (don't mind one bit) and they did a wee on a NZ rug and a wee on the spare tack box. Then one did a wee on a water bucket - so everything had to be cleaned (hard when all taps frozen!)
I then saw the barn doors open so went over to close them before dogs got in, but got stuck helping lift a large bucket of water, and when i did go to the barn a large smelly dog poo was on the hay bale - YUK
I have a bitch, wouldn't choose to have a dog, but surely dogs can be trained to pee on other things that don't have to be cleaned - like a tree?!? And as for the poo, case of lazy dog??

I have a male and I reckon it would be pretty hard to train him to not cock his leg!

However - I would not let him run loose in that sort of environment, not good manners, and if he was on a lead I would certainly drag him away the moment he started to sniff around, I agree it must be annoying.

I have known a lot of dogs who use the hayshed as a loo, I do not know why this is!!!

i have a dog and in order to avoid this, he gets taken straight to the fields when we get to the yard.... but he isn't bad about marking everything anything

I know of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breeder who taught her stud dogs that he was only allowed to pee just outside their garden when their walks began and after that, he was only allowed to pee when she told him to "Go and do something".

A girl who worked at my yard used to bring her GSD with her (a lovely dog, he was a rescue case and was emaciated when she got him, with really floppy hocks, but such a sweet nature), and he peed on everything. He was cocking his leg on the hay once, and because the horses have to eat that I called him to try and make him stop. His owner told me not to bother him because he was okay... some poor horse had to eat that manky dog-wee hay!

my male colle never used to then all of a sudden has just started to.
He marks when we are out on a walk, but normally only pillars and posts.
However he did once try to do it in a pets at home! I like ran dragging the lead behind me to stop him (whilst going bright red int eh face!!!)
