It shouldn't happen to an equine bodyworker........

I'm called Clean As A Whistle - tagline "It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it!"
I have a webpage, and mostly advertise on local horsey pages on Facebook. That and word of mouth get me work. I also do the occasional pony club and adult riders' to do demos/talks.
I need to get business cards, but I'm pretty vague... And I only willy wash when I have the time/inclination - so maybe every second weekend. Keeps me in money for my ponies :)
 
Thanks - that sort of approach has taken me from not even being able to get near it (could barely touch his tummy!) to managing to get in about 2", but it's taken a year and I haven't managed to get any further in the last 2 months!

He really hates it. He has to be sedated for the vet to even look at it let alone touch!

I've been to geldings who've been reputed as being 'untouchable' down below and done a scar release on the empty sack - and they find it rather relaxing ;)

You have to go slow though and 'buy them dinner first' :D
 
Two of ours are just dirty I think, they seem to positively enjoy me having a rummage ;)

They're not too keen if I try to peel flakey bits when they're hanging loose though, tend to retract quickly then!

My own horse hates being groomed or messed with (he was born feral) but I did some passive stretching, myofascial release and Masterson Method style moves on him the other day, not expecting any results. By the time I got to his sacrum he was hyperventilating, rolling his eyes, flicking his head and generally 'gone'. It took a while to 'bring him back' :)

Horses can surprise you - you can go see a horse labelled 'difficult' and feel you should do a 'gentle' massage and find they actually prefer the deeper strokes of a sports massage. Then you can have the bolshy cob who really responds to a lighter touch. It's all about reading what is best for that individual horse.

I do humans too but only really people I know :p. You don't really want to advertise yourself as a massage therapist in Blackpool ;). I know of a really good local guy who does therapeutic body work on humans - I refer my wonky owners to him.......

Irony is.......
I worked on a new horse of a regular client a few weeks ago. The horse had numerous physical pains and a hefty chunk of emotional ones too. He was fearful aggressive and I was in danger of being hurt (biting, head swinging and cow kicking).

I came out of the stable without a scratch.

That evening I went to massage my friend (who I do every month) and dropped the massage table out of my car and straight onto my foot :o
