Yep, Drifter is perfect but he is only 5 so tonite I.......

FELL OFF!!

Not sure what happened really. We had a bit of an argument as he didnt really want to go into the indoor arena. Why not sure will hae to loook into that - rode for about 20 minutes where I felt he was trying it on a bit and apparently I was right.

The lights were on in the reception area and the school and I am not sure if he saw his reflection or if a black dog in reception spooked him but one minute we had a trot and the next we whipped round and bolted. I remember thinking to myself oh b@@@*&^y Hell it looks as if I am going to find out if he'll stand on me. He didnt and he looked very sheepish. I dont know if my bum looks big in my jodphurs but it looks black in the mirror so I am going to worship at the altar of the God Arnica.

Anyway after being told to lie still for 10 minutes we decided I was only slightly dented so I got back on and had a quick trot and canter and then got off before anything else could happen.

I will lunge him tomorrow hopefully by the reception area and see how he feels.

poor you, hope it's not too sore in the morning.
i do think it's in the air.
i have ridden a 16.2hh tb x for the past 18 months. never had any probs with him, always felt very relaxed and trusted him to take care of me. last week we did canter in the school, he started to speed up, i checked him, he exploded like a rodeo horse and i nearly had a heart attack. i managed to stay on, no idea how

Poor you but at least you got back on again.

It must be something in the air cos my pony tried to bolt off with me tonight too and had a bit of a paddy about god knows what.

Sticky jods are a godsend!!!! It's almost impossible to fall off. I can't even slide off my leather chairs at home!

Big fan of lunging!!!!!

I think it's the weather. Three of our mares when absolutely berserk in their field tonight, charging up and down for 10 minutes huffing and puffing about something.

I made myself a bowl of pasta with cheese and tuna (comfort food) then had a whisy and achoccy bar.

Now the only major problem is I sleep on my side so I have a bruised hip on the right so cant lie that way and for some unknown reason my left ear hurts so it looks like I am going to have to sleep hanging upside down from the rafters.
I cant sleep on my back because (shh!) I snore !!

Yep- must be seasonal.....my lad, usually bit sharp/spooky hasbeen really chilled recently.....having a lovely collected canter over cornfield-spooked at a stray pile of straw, jumped sideways then did a spectacular buck....lost stirrups, mercifully didn't fall off cos last time that happened took about a year to get over it......God love em, sometimes you wonder why you didn't take up knitting!

*hugs*

Well done for getting back on though.

Alcohol and comfort food sounds like a good idea to me in this situation

Hope the bruises go down quickly for you.
