Did the deed today and let Sooty's owner know that I would have to stop part loaning him.

I'm devastated, I had such fun hacking him out and exploring with him. I only jumped him once and schooled him 2 or 3 times as the arena was always busy.

I am so upset over it, feel like i've had to give up every chance of proper riding that i've had. But I know it's the only thing I can do.

What with getting full time work, my own 4 ponies and my incompetent Yard Owner's 2, soon to be 3 horses I just can't find the time for Sooty and so can't justify the payment every week for a horse I barely have time to ride.

Devastated but needs must.

Oh no, how sad

I'm sorry. But I guess if you don't have the time for him it's the best decision, albeit a tought one to make.

Big hug.

Well it sounds like a very grown-up decision to have made... and just think, Sooty can go on to another family now and give them lots of fun, rather than you feeling guilty about not being able to ride often enough

Sounds like you have a lot on, best of having what time you do have, spending it on your own ponies and of course concentrating on your job, sounds like you have made a sensible decision.

still must be sad though.

Thanks guys, it's most definitely the right thing. His owner took it very well and fully understood.

Thanks for your support.

could you not ignore the yard owners horses and spend time on him, or is there more to it than that? guess it would be hard to fit in 5 with full time work in winter anyway.

I can't ignore YOs horses unfortunately.
One of them I have looked after for 12/13 years and I would not ignore him. He's like my own and he's a very old boy. She's also getting an exracer who she wants me to excercise (though least said on that the better).

It is such a shame as he looks like a smashing little lad who you really enjoyed.

Although I am glad to hear that his owner was so understanding about it all.
