Had the vet and the farrier out to Mo again today. The vet did the pincer test on her hoof again, and there was no reaction, so no pain. However, she's still very lame - he reckoned 5/10 lame.
So she's booked in to go to the hospital on thursday at 1pm for x-rays, nerve blocks and scans (thank God for insurance!!).
Vet has basically got no idea what's causing the lameness. Said it could be spavin, could be ligament or tendon damage, could be something else. It must have just been a coincidence that she had a bruised sole on friday, as the lameness is nothing to do with her feet.
So the farrier re-shod her once the vet had gone. Once he got round to putting her left hind on the tripod (it's her right hind that she's lame on), she really didnt like it and almost fell over. This suggested to the farrier that it IS something high up, but we'll have to wait until thursday to find out.
So what's the next best thing i can hope for??!! I was really pleased when he reckoned it was an abcess, so now i've got all horrible things running round in my head.
It's only been a year since Murph was put to sleep, and now it feels like it's starting all over again.
And we've only just bought her!
(oh, and before anyone panicks, we DID have her vetted! And her old owner is a vet at Leahurst equine hospital!)
Stress!!!!!!!!!
