Well thank you all for the wonderful support you've shown us over the last few days it has been very much appreciated.

He came round ok after the 2nd surgery to repair the stitches, but really struggled to stand. He was bright and perky so was given time to rest.
Unfortunately every time he got up he fell back down and was damaging his belly resulting in the muscle wall coming apart for a second time despite being sutured differently. He had 5 people supporting him but was still unable to take weight on his back end. The vets have decided he must have nerve damage on his quarters from the original 4 1/2 hour op.

In all the worry of the colic op I thought I'd considered all possible outcomes not waking up, allergic reactions, heart failure, posioning etc I really didn't once consider he may damage himself so badly in recovery.

Toyboy laid and had a lovely feed before he was finally set free.

RIP Dabernon Toyboy 25/05/98 - 24/11/08

So sorry.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

I had a similar experience when a horse got through a GA for a tooth op, despite our worries about his heart murmur and Cushings, only to break a leg during recovery.
