Does anyone own one? I met one while out walking at the weekend and I am in love! He was soooo cute! Do they make good working dogs?

Post pics of yours if you have one

A friend of mine owns one, lovly sloppy dog, looks like his skin is ten sizes too big for his body, he is still only a pup thou

There are a couple of people on here with one....Equus Leather I think? Who was Polypad. Who was The Psephologist.
Apologies if I am wrong!

I think when they first started getting imported they were all working lines but now more are show/pet.

My friend has one who is just the biggest soppiest girl! she is really lovely!

she is good out working. I think she is defiently slow compared to say a springer, but for a big dog they are good!

I think they can be really slow working dogs, but if you're used to Labs, you won't notice a difference

I think the point is, that if you want a HPR they are very slow compared to say a GSP, if you want a retriever you'd be better getting something bred for retrieving and the same goes for beating.
Although given just how fast Otto is, it might be quite nice to be able to distinguish the shape of my dog as it passed me

Oooh I've been looking at Spinone pups recently - trying to persuade OH I need another dog and have loved these for years. I'm not sure now it would keep up with the Cocker though having read other peoples comments?

I just want one as they're cute

I do fancy a working dog a bit different from a lab (don't tell Midget and Tina!)

I like the Chepaseake BR, but think they'd be very difficult to get over here

Midget is like a blur too, honestly I have never known a lab to move so quick but she's so tiny and lean!

Apparently Chessie's have a reputation for being hard-headed little f*****s!!! I love them, but after Otto I want something a little easier!

After my Mum's trouble with her IWS and his lateness at growing up, and although I love the idea of the more 'heritage' breeds, I think I'll be sticking with the dependability of the more popular working breeds!
