last night i noticed fox was really itchy, he kept rubbing his neck off the side of the door and rubbing his head against me. i remembered seeing a thread on here about people saying their horses were also really itchy when they were on it.

what is it that causes them to itch? i dont really want to take him off of it as hes only been on it 2 weeks and the change in his condition is amazing, he looks so good.

I have found many horses do itch when on alfa a. The only times I have fed it with success and no itching was on race horses in hard work! I'm not sure why it causes them to itch but I think a lot of horses do have a mild allergy to pure alfalfa. I tend to swap back over to hi-fi or readigrass.

If it is causing him to itch then you should take him off it as it's not nice him having to eat something he could be allergic to :)

Try feeding something else like micronised linseed for condition/shine, I have had nothing but good results with that.
