My two have been getting progressively more itchy. I tried anti-histamines with no success so took them to the vet today, saw my favourite vet who is really lovely. I was also concerned that the younger one, Maddie had had two entire males sniffing her rear end and a couple of bitches too. Vet checked her anal glands, minimal problem there and the same with Jesse, the old girl. She checked their skin and Maddie has scabby bits all over her back at base of tail, hair is obviously broken there. Jesse has a bald patch where she has pulled hair out. The rest of their skin is fine and no sign of fleas or harvest mites. She thinks it has to be mites of some sort so they are to have strong anti- histamines and Bravecto for the mites. Also got to try and get a urine sample, test is included in the bill. Also got 2 worming tablets each.
So total cost was £364.34 which shook me a bit. The charge for each Bravecto tablet was £46.97 inc VAT. Checked on Pet Drugs Online and they charge £19.99 per tablet or £39.99 for two. I assume that will have to have VAT added.
Think I will be asking for a prescription if I need any more.

My Lab itches this time of year, last year I got the nutri paw treats and they worked but this year they aren't doing anything. I've just bought some anti itching shampoo so am going to try that. They've got their annual check up next week so will get some Bravecto, it is crazy how much more expensive it is through the vet!
