Itchy Flakey horse.

a livery has noticed her horse is suddenly very itchy, and upon inspection, seems to have rather 'flakey' skin under her hair. The mare is now making some bald patches on her face, and her legs also seem to be rather itchy.
The mare is out in the day, and in at night. Any ideas?
said livery was going to go down and clip the mare, but ended up talking to another livery who said maybe it was barley mites as they changed over to barley straw about 5 weeks ago - none of the other horses on the yar are having issues.
any suggestions or advice?

ETA - horse has had louse powder on just incase,

Get some deosan from the vets and bathe her in it - it's great for getting rid of all sorts of 'visitors'.

get your self some spot on and some insedicital shampoo give him a good bath then put the spot on!

since the mare had the louse powder on, she no longer seems to be itching

the owner is now putting lots of cream etc on the sore to prevent infection and keeping an extra close eye on her incase the itching restarts.
