Itchy Horse!!!

This topic has more than likely been covered although i have not seen it, but my lovely cob has been extremely itchy recently, this is on his legs, on his bum, tail, face, side etc. I am just wondering if you have any solutions or advice to prevent this itching and make him more comfortable as it is now so severe his legs/bum/face are cut and wounded, this makes me feel so sad to see him like this I do have the vet attending to him in a weeks time however have you ever experienced this?

Have you checked for lice? theyre pesky little blighters and now is the perfect time for them

Could be an allergic reaction. Has he ever been like it before?

I have thought about it being lice however i can not find anything (although they are clever little things for hiding away) and no not like this, he is sometimes a little itchy now and then but not to the point of him cutting himself :/

have you tried bathing him in hibiscrub? would make him more comfy and kill any bacteria in the skin.thats where id start anyway

Leg mites which are not the same as lice. Do some searching on here as feathered horses get them.. Various different treatments but first of all get advice from your vet. I drives horses to distraction and makes them itch like mad.
