Tawny has always been hard work food wise, getting itchy and skanky ears at the drop of a hat. Red is an unknown quantity, but did turn up with ears solid with gunk.
They are on https://www.essentialfoodsgb.co.uk/meals-for-dogs/working-dog-essential-nautical-living.html which looks good to me. The others are all good and shiny and well.
So any ideas?
I will probably just go back to MWH for Tawny as she’s always been ok on it, and therefore Red can try it as well. But it’s annoying as it is much easier to have all on all and Essentials offer good discounts for bulk buying. Can anyone spot a dodgy ingredient? I can’t!

Are they just itchy right now or gunky in the ears too? Are they smelly?

If they're just itchy and shedding a lot maybe they're just having a blowout? My Lab is at the moment and when she scratches an itch she leaves half a dog behind.

Both have dirty ears and a bit sensitive. Tawny mainly itchy around her mouth. (Usual for her). Red all over. Red a bit smelly. The trouble with food with lots of fillers is the amount if poo I have to deal with! With 8 it’s a lot of poo and needs planning.

I think you might get a gold star. Mwh has no eggs. And tbh T doesn’t get a lot of eggs as she’s not such a scavenger as the others. I’ll go to mwh with those two and see.

Egg is surprisingly frequently a culprit in these sort of cases…fingers crossed that eliminating it solves the problem…..!

Too many carbs a possibility ........culprits could be the potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots, too many carbs/sugars feeds the yeast.

Edited to add.

Have you got your dogs on probiotics Clodagh ?

Quite a lot of sugars. They could each be reacting to different things of course. The only way to really tell is to feed a single protein, maybe one of the fishes, and then add in the other ingredients one at a time. Ideally I would want to it out of season.
I’ve ordered some Millie’s, which I know suits Tawny, and shall see if Red is any good on it. Failing that I shall certainly try the single protein idea.
