for the last few days my JRT has had really runny eyes 24/7, and they are obviously irritating her as she is always rubbing them with her paw, or rubbing her eyes on a pillow to itch them.
should i take her to the vets? it hasnt got any better in the last few days...do you think it is because she runs around in the long grass outside (shes only a little dog) so gets pollen in her eyes? is there anything i can do for her- feel abit sorry for the poor mutt!

is anyone cutting hay/crops nearby (not likely in this weather tho)

It could be allergies, or simply irritation from running in long grass.

What food does she eat? Have you changed it recently? A lot of foods contain ingredients that set off allergies, especially corn and soy. If you haven't changed anything (think hard, have you changed ANYTHING? Food, or clothing detergent, or even type of water?), maybe your dog has simply developed an allergy. Dogs (and cats and humans and horses and pencils, lol) can develop allergies later in life, same as allergies can go away over time.

Dip a cotton bud in some warm water and give it a good squeeze out and give the eyes a wee rub over. Could help with the itchyness. If it continues I would take her to the vet. Do they they look inflammed or red? As I had a scottie who started with these syptoms but they continued to get worse and eyes very red and weepy so took her to the vets and she had conjunctivits. A short course of eye drops soon cleared it up.
