It's a filly!

After a very HARD night last Thursday, when my grand old RID mare Little Macha (Portia) has the foaling from hell, one of Portia's daughters, Pride, produced a lovely bay filly this am with no assistance at all - she didn't even set the foaling alarm off until she passed the placenta!

I was so relieved we got Portia's out alive it would have been VERY ungrateful to be disappointed in the fact it was a boy - but both her daughters have now had fillies so I'm VERY delighted indeed!!

For those who like statistics and details, Indigo Macha Pride is a 5 year old RID mare - by my stallion Lady's Tralee Raj out of Little Macha (Portia). The filly's sire is Avanti Amorous Archie - and she was 336 days of pregnancy. It's her 2nd foal - she had a bay filly to Kenson's Aragorn last year. Pics to follow!

Well here she is - wouldn't get away from the milkbar long enough for a decent pic!

She has the same distinctive large whorl on her forehead as Dawn's foal (Dawn and Pride are full sisters and both fillies are by Avanti Amorous Archie - so not surprising they're similar.) A tiny white star and no other white, just like her last year's foal - and I'm daring to think/hope she'll stay bay. She's a bit down on her pasterns - but they'll straighten up quick enough.
