at least 60% of the horses on my yard have rugs on, some with necks!

And at least 70% of thes horses are natives/hardy!

Now I know it was cold this morning and each to their own but surely ponios would not be comfortable like this.

I was sweating just poo-picking and was wearing a t-shirt!

'tis ridiculous

Mine has a full clip and only medium weight on with no neck cover! It was chilly this morn but with the sun on her she'll be plenty warm enough!! Same at my yard - loads have more rugs on than they prob need - not so bad now but did annoy me a few weeks ago when they must have been roasting!!

Mine have blanket clips and are out with no rugs on at the moment. Its nice for them to have the sun on their backs.

i know makes me laugh really as once a lot of the ones round here and clipped they will run out of rugs!

Dan is still naked except he had rainsheet on other day when it was hammering it down with rain he is getting fluffy though but he is only being worked gently. Might get blanket/trace clip soon though and be upgraded to lightweight as is in low single figures overnight here.

Fleur has had a lightweight on for a good month but was out 24/7 until a week ago but she is a very sensitive soul and noticeably feels the cold. On yes and she has a thin fleece overnight. potentially clipping her next week and if temps stay the same (ie low) she will have her thinner middleweights both indoor and turnout.

Oh I know, its the same at my yard, all these hairy horses with m/w rugs on-I can't believe it. Mine's still out 24/7 not clipped, but naked. If she was clipped, she wouldn't have a rug on today, its gorgeous

Ours are our all year round, and are still naked. The big traditional boy has been sweating just standing still in the field, took him around the block yesterday in walk (about 2 miles) and he came back lathered, it just isn't fair on him so clipped today, neck off and then low trace to his stifles. He will still sweat, but shouldn't be as bad.

He never gets rugged, and I think he will feel a lot better for having his hair off!

guilty! my horse is a pure wimpy tb who is used to living in and so she had a rug with a neck on and she will not keep the weight on.Is that so bad!!! Its so hard to know what rug to put on at the mo - its the basis of endless forums on here!!!

My horse (WB) has been fully clipped out and has a thick rug on at night (because it has been dropping really cold) and a thin rug on in the day!

mine won't have one on until he's clipped, and even then it'll only be a m/w.
my friends horse is out with his h/w full neck on and he not even clipped yet! he's gonna freeze in january!

All ours have had their rugs off during the day with this great weather. Some at our yard are still out there with HW rugs, neck covers, the works on. Poor horses must be sweating their cobs off.
