Well this has been my craziest buy yet. I didn't dare post about it yet just in case it went horribly wrong 
It was a huuuge risk!
I have been thinking about bringing a horse/pony over from Ireland for a while as I was in contact with the producer of my other Irish horse (who I bought very locally but was sent from Ireland to a local dealer). Unfortunately nothing they had was suitable (too young, too expensive).
Anyway, I was browsing the internet one day and saw a pretty little chap advertised who for some reason caught my eye amongst the other adverts, a 148cm "Dun" 5 year old Connemara (unreg. but sire known) - I don't know why I liked him but something seemed nice about him so I sent an email. Many questions, videos, pictures and a phone call later and a price was agreed and transport arranged
WHAT HAD I DONE?!
And worst luck, the transport company had a new lorry being built so I had a week of sleepless nights thinking how much of an idiot I was
He was due to arrive at 6pm, but actually arrived at 11pm ! He had been at back of the lorry 34 hours
and looked like he'd lost the will to live bless him, he could hardly hold his head up-the drivers were lovely and took good care of the horses, but obviously couldn't avoid the long journey! They parked up for the night on our yard as they arrived so late.
I've had him 5 days now and he's an absolute saint- and the friendliest, loving and kind pony I have ever known, and I've known a lot ! He loves everyone and always trots up to you in the field- even after being worked or 5 minutes after being turned out. I've ridden him 3 times and lunged him once- he is very intelligent and has improved massively already, accepting the contact and using his back- popped a little jump today and he has a lot of natural talent. He learnt the lunging voice aids for walk and trot in 5 minutes. My vet has confirmed he's sound and healthy, and the dentist has asked for his wolf teeth out (which he's got the joy of tomorrow), he's feeling great with a full tummy, friends and the sun on his back- he regularly has a little buzz of happiness and a canter and buck in the field
Anyway I could write a novel about this little chap! So here is a picture of him today , with Finn trying to get in the picture too
Not got any good ridden pictures yet but will post some soon ! He's got a lot of muscling up to do, but he's from an in hand showing yard and done next to nothing so is weak, but some good food and gradual exercise will sort that out soon enough.
