It's amazing how little people know...

Can't people who passed their test before 1997 drive up to 7.5 tonne on a normal licence?

I think it's 3.5 ton unladen & 7.5 ton laden......but I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong

Damn it!!! Didn't know that. Why couldn't I have been born 10 years before

Oh why couldn't I have bought a horse small enough to fit into a 3.5 tonne box!!!
Can't afford the C1 license, let alone the box, window shopping always seems such a good idea at the time...

yeah if you passed before jan 1997 you can drive 7.5t but anything after you need to take the c test - more money making I believe!

I don't think so ..... I drive a 7.5 tonner on a standard licence because of my age and I have always been astounded that I am allowed to drive such a huge vehicle with no extra tuition. It's not right! My box is 22 feet long and it's nothing like a car to drive.

Yeah but you can drive it right??? I am perfectly capable of driving a large box including 7.5t but due to new law am not legally allowed to! Fair enough have tuition to drive it but to have to go and fork out for a whole new test at over 1k is rediculous! If you were having to pay for the test I think you would agree

You dont have to spend anything on tuition, IF YOU CAN DRIVE IT. All you have to do is pay a test fee and prove to an examiner that you can, and that you have the background knowlege to pass the written test.Of course ,if you cant do this ,then perhaps you do need lessons.
