my little lad had a bit of a bad time beginning of this year, but by far the worst of it all was him dropping weight rapidly (despite huge feeds). it was discovered that the land owners i rented from felt sorry for him im the little paddock & had been feeding him over fence the garden clippings & we discovered that he had been poisoned by Laburnum so after an unsightly vets bill (OH still is unaware of most of the cost) & 6 months of love, affection, good feeding & a new home he is starting to look like my little man again (& acting like it)

so here are a few pics cos i am so proud of him.

i owe so much to our vets as they have been so fantastic & never gave up on him.

and just one of him looking ever cheeky.
when i got him he was healthy & a little star if nervy & he blossomed into a little diamond that i trust my toddlers with implicitly, it was sole destroying to see him drop weight so fast (in just 2 weeks).
looking forwards to getting on with his education again now.

Ah, the SWA. Bless his cottons. He does look well now after the roller coaster ride you have both had.

Well done you.

Hi i had this 10 years ago with my 15'2 cob x dales, he was a gem, he was on restricted grazing and the local dog walkers thought that he wasn't getting fed and put grass cuttings over the fence, he coliced and then had a twisted gut, i went up one morning to find him lying in his field dead. Got the vet out had a post mortem to confirm it was the cut grass, and it was :( Never did find out who did it, but if i did i would have sued the arse of them! i now electric fence from the post and rail 2 meters in the field.

You have been very lucky im glad everything worked out for you x

sorry to here your outcome wasnt so nice Beckie65, its heartbreaking when they suffer & there is nothing you can do.
i am so very lucky that he is a fighter & our vets were brilliant, they called in every time they passed by close to the area (& diddnt charge for it) to see how he was doing, they helped set up his diet & even gave me the number of someone with good quality hay when it was scarse in june.

thanks Angua2, he really is a darling & one of the best things in my life (just below the kids & on par with OH, lol)

*sigh* still loving the little man too, still kinda miss him, but he is far better with you than with me!
