It's amazing what a couple of weeks on decent grass can do...

Bit of a pointless thread, but I'm bored at work, and musing at piccies ;)

First day here:

16 days later:

And just because he looked snazzy modelling his new rug :p

Any excuse for piccies, eh?

It's amazing stuff, my companion was being fed rolled up £5 notes over winter with no let up in his weight loss - 3 weeks of proper spring grass and he's unrecognisable!!

He looks great - keep letting Dr Green do his good work!

It's unusual, isn't it? :) He's just turned 4, total blank canvas but a really chilled out little guy.

It's amazing how quick they fill out once the grass finally makes an appearance!

Looks great. :)

My (very happy!) Tb now also resembles a horse rather than a hat rack. :D

It's lovely to see their faces when they realise they're going into a field of spring grass, particularly after the winter we've had.

One of mine came out of winter looking like a hat rack despite me feeding her her own body weight every hour or so... so I have to second the grass. :D She looks wonderful now, all round and cuddly, its the only thing that works!

Stop it, stop it! I'd give anything to let my horse have 'the benefit of Mr Green' - instead she's muzzled to the hilt even on a bareish patch and has to come in for a few hours for some respite.

Op, your horse looks great!

Its swings and roundabouts isn't it.. We envy you..You envy us. Not sure which is better or worse.

Theres a financial gain to having a good doer, as my winter feed bills were enormous, but I guess you have to factor in yard allowing restricted grazing and laminitus prevention.. although my farrier told me last friday about a TB round the corner from us having just been diagnosed with lami...

We do what we do because we love them :p

Wow he's gorgeous and what an improvement, what is his breeding?

My horse has that rug as well :), a friend bought one for her horse, my horse and another friend's horse as we looked after her boy between us when she had a baby. All three horses are in the same field and they look funny when they're all in matching rugs, like chavs in shellsuits!

If it's any consolation, it's still a novelty to me!! Having had cobs and Welshies in the past, it's a real novelty.

Shmoo - very pleased with how he's settling in, he's acting like he's been here forever. It's really helping me to have something to focus on, too.

Okay, I'll stop now :o

ETA: Cross posted, sorry! He's by Montroze, out of Celtic Treasure :) Haha, the rug was in the sale - how can you say no to reduced bubbles?! :D

Great improvement and nice looking horse!
Mine came out of winter looking superb and spot on- just a glimmer of ribs and well muscled... now despite muzzles and lots of exercise they are fat  So I am envious of everyone's skinny horses :p
