Decided on Saturday to have a massive clear out. We've not had one for probably all the time i've been there - 5 years.

SO looked in the old tackroom which is now the rug room to see what rugs out of there we wanted and who for and which to bin. EVERY rug i picked up had had mice living in it, loads of acorns and leaves fell on my feet! I found 2 rugs with massive tears to the inside that were unrepairable god only knows why we put them in there to begin with!!

Loads of bits of bridle , ancient and mouldy, broken headcollars, mice had eaten several pairs of gloves and a few tabbards beyond repair, found some decent travel boots, but i filled up the dumper truck

with all the old rugs (some of which we haven't used for the past 2 years so didn't see why we should keep them for this year), old hats, bits of tack and general JUNK!!!

PS I found a fat live mouse and a dead decaying mouse in one of the hay racks under a couple of rugs we'd left there for 6 months! YUCK

we moved yards a few weeks ago and when moving the straw discovered the route of our bad smell that was only there for a few days (apparently it goes through a non smell, smell, non smell process!), dead rat, gross.

aww - think of all those poor little homeless mice just before winter :-)

I hate to think what is lurking at the bottom of 6 trunks I have (and no rugs in them - they're elsewhere !!)

mmm - it's raining today - nope - even clipping is more attractive than turning out the trunks
