for your own piece of mind, give the vet a call, to confirm what happened to your pony, can you imagine calling a vet a 4am... call would be like this
hi i need the vet to come out
whats wrong with the pony
its jumped out of its field i want it pts
not only would a vet be unlikly to do this, what about the people that would of had to come and collected the poor pony?? i really think the woman is pulling a fast one on you, please call the vet just for your own piece of mind
 
Surely the vet would not move the body. It would still be very much there in the morning, waiting for the knacker / hunt / whoever to pick it up, or someone with a JCB to bury it. You could call the local knackers and find out if they picked up from your area.

I'll add my vote to 'sold on'.
 
Guys, Im know everyone is scepticle about this story. Ive not been on the forum two days because of work commitments and am astounded by the replies to this post in that time. Im going to ring the vet today on the off chance that I will get some info but im not holding out much hope, patient confidentiality and all that. I honestly dont think im being told a pack of lies about what happened these people are really not like that, almost daft they are so honest always have been and ive known them a long time. The only thing i find unbelieveable is why a vet would put a pony to sleep for the said reason. I will endevour to find outthe truth and let you know. Thanks everyone for all your kind words, its meant a lot.
 
Of course the other thing you could do would be to try and find out how the body was dispossed of, and ring them to see if they can shed any light.
