I am useless. On a scale of 1 to 10 I am guessing 11 at the moment. It is all useless, my riding is useless, the poor mare must be completely hacked of with my uselessness.

I ride like a complete C word, sick of the list of things I do wrong, why cant I just do it?

Anyone want a horse, was well schooled has the patience of a saint?

Blimey you need a kick up the backside - in my experience of the horsey world there are enough people waiting in the wings to knock you so there is no need to do it to yourself.

Nothing is ever as bad as it seems, you just need to work through all the bits which you dont feel are working well. The worst type of riders are the 'know it alls' who wont accept there is a problem so you are starting from the right place if you want to improve. Just get yourself a good training and start progressing.

The only way is up!

There IS NOTHING wrong with your riding.

Okay youre going through confidence blip, you have been going along for the past year steadily improving - Blimey youve come a HUGE way since you came to see me last February!!
Thing is now, is that you think you arent improving, youve sort of leveled out on your riding *so you think* but in actual fact you are probably riding better now than youve ever done.

I went through a bad stage when i was having a problem with my horse, and thought i may as well give up, as im not good enough for the horse. It was total crap! got myself a lesson on a horse who although trained *was a 3 star horse* it wouldnt do anything without being ridden well.
I rode it, got it doing smart things it gave me the confidence boost i needed - rode with no stirrups, no hands, had a lunge lesson etc and i never looked back.

I got frustrated last sesaon wtih my dressage, as that always put us in a good posisition i was finding my jumping was better than my dressage, in actual fact my thoughts had changed. I stopped riding into the arena thinking i was on the BEST horse there, so my over all appearance changed *do you know what i mean* my dressage had improved, but my attidude had changed, mainly because my jumping was improving all the time

So there you go, ramble over, you are not a failure, you just need to sit down, look at how far youve come and now start looking at entering dressage, which will give you something to WORK towards

I have days where my confidence is at its lowest ebb and more you think you are useless the worse it gets. Can totally sympathise. I find sitting on another horse really helpful as it makes you appreciate yours and if you can do one thing that makes it go better it can give you confidence. You have to believe in yourself - a good rider can be made and not born.

Everyone has days like that , just bear in mind that theres always someone whos 100 times worse than you are!! I can't even canter a proper circle on my poor ned.....

BBs - it is all my own doing set my standards far too high, then have a massive downer when I dont achieve it all. Got a lesson tonight so I am sure YO will iron me out. Its just I know she can do it all I am just pressing the incorrect buttons.

lec - might well book a lesson on something different - might bang it inot my head to appreciate my mare.

Have a good lesson tonight.

I have a horse who is currently rushing in trot, spending hours trying to slow him down. Canter was great on the left but crap on the right, now great on the rigth crap on the left.
The other wants to buck me clean off

Why do they rush in trot? Lean onto the reins? Right so I give with the contact then we go faster - so I half halt and we still go faster. Me thinks I might be taking her off this supplement I have put her on - and I will neck it instead.

He is young it is his balance. Winnie on the other hand *tut tut*

I really need some lessons on the flat - Im not the best person to ask about problems as i find it easier to get on and do it than explain...im a crap trainer lol
