Already December! Closest to the most important event...the winter solstice!

Off to another dressage clinic this weekend. Never ridden with this clinician before. Horse gets to have a sleep over with his former neighbor (owner moved yards), because it makes more sense for him to just stay overnight due to the drive time and ride times.

Have to make sure to get a Covid test done to be able to ride in the indoor school...and of course most of the test centers have been shut down and the few remaining open on weekends are not soo close. Soo, that's also in the plans ?

Should be warmer but rainy on Sat and colder on Sun. As long as the snow stays away for a clear drive home I'm good.

Had a lesson tonight, weather was absolutely horrendous!! Glad horse is clipped, managed to warm up before it got really bad and thankfully it didn’t take long to dry him off and warm him up after. Hot shower and fluffy pjs for me!

Off to our first everrrrr affiliated dressage on Saturday. Just doing the one test, prelim, don’t want to give myself too much to worry about ? the plan is to rattle through a few prelims between now and end of Feb, then hopefully crack on at Novice come spring.

Sunday, OH is reclaiming his horse (damn) for a jump lesson!

Last comp of the year for me on Sunday. Hoping wind stays below gale force. It’s riding club, and a nice vibe, so brave pants are on and first novice will be attempted. Either the busier test will help us focus, or we’ll end up in a heap. Nothing ventured and all that…
Have great weekends all.

Good luck, and enjoy, to all those heading out!
Red-1 - I hope Rigsby gets through ok. I know of so many horses who have had colic in the last couple of weeks :(

Nothing horsey here as I've turned Chilli away for a winter holiday. He was a good boy in our lesson on Tuesday (although we decided to leave canter to next year!) despite muntjacs rustling around in the woods next to the arena which was freaking us all out a bit!

Nothing here as cancelled everything. Horse was sticky at RC qualifiers and at BD two days later really tight over back so has had 12 days off then osteo and 6 monthly hock treatment this week. This weekend will be back on and gently hacking.

Enjoy all who are out having fun! And hope Rigsby comes good and Dolly behaves.

@Red-1 I hope Rigby is feeling better soon. :(

I'm not doing alot this weekend again. B doesn't seem 100%, but that could be me over thinking things or him feeling the cold a little. We need to look at his management and see what we can tweak here and there. Robin is booked in for his castration after xmas, so he's on the count down.

@Ample Prosecco go luck with the viewing. Would I be able to pm you and ask a favour please?

Working tomorrow, then our college night out. I far prefer to hibernate in winter so I’m really pushing myself to go as I don’t want to let my friend down. I know I’ll enjoy it when I’m there but I so want to put my pyjamas on and have an early night.
Sunday I will hack first thing and then I’m off to Liverpool for an afternoon meal with my cousins and family, a little Christmas meet up as we weren’t able to have a wake, due to covid, after my aunty died.
It’s now groomer silly season as well, I barely come up for air now til Christmas Eve.

Dentals and B's flu jab went well this morning, both v good for teeth.
Vet did minor work up on little A and has decided its stifle, so we are heading over next week to get it scanned at the surgery, as if its something that could be injected, he'd rather do it all there. Hoping it's not bone chip(s) ?

Good luck AE and everyone else with exciting adventures.

I will (hopefully) be nursing Rigsby through his colic. Taking longer than I would like to re-start his digestion. On an exhausting round of small feeds, walking, massage, a little turnout....
Poor boy xxx hows he doing ? Xx

Had a great time at the schoolmaster lesson! I said that I'd be keen to do some flying changes as it's not something I've done a lot. Turned out the horse I was on LOVES changes so it was more a lesson in how to prevent them :D We also did all the lateral work you'd find in a AM. The horse was lovely - huge, warmblood of some variety, but very rideable and didn't feel as big as he was. The instructor was very complimentary of how I rode him, which was a real boost after the self-doubt from riding a teenager-y 4yo for the last few months.

I've booked again for next week and will try to keep it up every month or two once Chilli's back in work, it's good to check in and stop myself developing bad habits.

Aylesford was good. We did a small course of 75-80cm show jumps. No problem with fillers anymore but I’ve figured out that I sometimes stop riding to fences on a dog-leg or if they come up quickly off the track, which causes him to stop (which happened today). But fences where I have time to organise myself and ride, he absolutely flies. Time to get a lesson doing dog-legs etc.

When we started doing the cross country jumps, it was as if he said “I got this mum”. We have always had a bit of a wary moment at ditches but today he just cantered and popped it no problem several times. We had a problem at a fence that’s wooden on the bottom and those black tubes on top. I think he just struggled to read it. We had so much fun though doing the cross country.

Lots of show jumping practise needed before we step up to 80 next season but there’s plenty of time!

Brilliant day for us, at our first affiliated dressage. Stuck to prelim today; we’ve been doing prelim & novice unaff, and a couple of elems for the craic, but wanted to try aff at a level we are competent at!!
It was great - finished on 70.14% to win our category and also were the highest scoring combo across the board at our level, so really pleased.
Going to go again next week, we are going to do a prelim & novice this time.

Fantastic start to your affiliated career! Well done Sheep. He does look the business.

Thanks so much! Really pleased with him!

Sheep, I just love your horse!

he is recovering well. I am exhausted!

Aw thank you! We got SO lucky with him, he is an absolute gem, and a lovely chap to have around too!

Glad your boy is recovering, colic is just awful. Hope you can get some rest now x
