Any ideas gratefully take on board!
He's not a hugely food orientated horse but a very good doer so it's not a huge issue except that he needs supplements, well most importantly Danilon. He will eat it in a apple sauce sandwich but daily I'm not sure how healthy this is!
Bute I'd syringe but the Danilon granules are probably a bit big?
I'm also a bit worried he'd grow to hate me if I keep grabbing him and forcing a syringe down the poor old boy.
Any better and healthy ideas :)

Having this issue with mine - he windsucks so takes forever to eat a feed anyway, but find that he's best with a just handful of alfalfa rather than the full scoop he gets in winter (you could use any chaff that he likes), sups mixed in and fed fairly damp. If he's being particularly fussy, it sometimes help if I hold the bucket for him. (oh god, how spoilt!) :D

My Welsh D mare has to have bute in her feed, but is a canny little madam and won't eat up if she is suspicious that there is Poison in her feed.

Her previous owner advised me to get some Apple Sauce and mix a teaspoon of that in the feed. I use the "Bramley's Apple Sauce" that you get in Sainsburys........ problem is that I'm getting a bit of a taste for it too :)

Does the trick tho'.

My latest invention for getting bute and prascend into my old horse that refuses any bucket food/hand treats is and empty gastoguard tube. Drugs tipped in, topped up with baby food out of a squeezy pouch, and given like a wormer

I had this problem with a mineral supplement mine both hated the smell of - would leave their feeds if they so much as had a pinch in. Bran was suggested and it's like magic, they scoff the lot now. Old fashioned and to us it seems a bit like cardboard but they love it and it is has fibre and protein in it as well.

Ginger Biscuits! Find my lot love them - crumbled over meds, it seems to really disguise taste. Or sandwiches....the donkeys love sandwiches with supplements, bit different, but worth a try? :)

Yes this is my other problem. Windsucking! i find in a small feed most of it even if he does eat ends up over the fence which then daughters horse comes and cleans up (yuck) I too have tried holding the bucket- progressing to hand feeding him ;)

The Amazon syringe!!!! Is that for a box or 1? My vet will give me one of those for free or cheap but good idea, just like i say Im a bit worried about him growing to hate me! I suppose with something nice in it.....
Fast fibre works for a short while- tried that last summer but he's just not really interested.
He hates banana's but all idea's to work with Thanks :)

How about home made apple sauce, a lot cheaper, a lot heather and would probably get away with a pinch of sugar?
