Well the saddle fitting went well even though next time I am organizing one for November far too hot!

By the way ladies and gents tip for you! I knew it was going to be an expensive morning and was slightly worried at OH's response (my money but he still tends to suck his teeth must be the Scottish Blood) so have been preparing him for a cost of about 2,500 euro if we are lucky and can get a second had saddle to fit Vardi which as he is a WB appy cross may be neigh on impossible. So when (as I had already calculated!) the whole lot, saddle, saddle pad, cinch, bridle, split reins, rope halter, and a new fabulous pair of boots for me came in at just shy of 1,600 euro he was delighted

Anyhow I digress lol....very indulgent with the pics I am afraid.

Vardi bless him has grown more on one side that the other, if you look at his shoulders from the front the near side shoulder is marginally higher than the other in a nutshell he is a big horse who still has a baby body needs careful training to even him out. Farrier coming next week and We will speak to him about if some remedial trimming would help.

Saddle No 1 (I have a horrible feeling Jan is asking whether this is suitable for my rather ample arse!)

Saddle No 2 (with for some reason Jan doing an impression of CHAD!) thankfully this one did not fit as I HATED the colour on Vaard!

Now apologies here as we decided on Saddle no 3 and I test rode in it and my beloved OH had at this point got bored and wandered off with the Camera to talk to some of the other OH's who were down there about power tools or something!

Anyhow this is the final choice, second hand, wonderfully comfortable, fits vardi very well giving him the room in his shoulders he needs. Dark brown (yay) not too much silver or bling (double yay) with Jan on board giving it a through test drive.

And one from the back (Love the Rawhide Edging as it picks out the white in him)

If it is not stupid hot today I will take some pics of him all rigged out in his new bridle, saddle and pad as he does (if I may say so) look very stunning in it all

So really you SAVED money!!! Your OH owes you a nice treat now for being so frugal! :)

Yep that's what we are all telling him, I was fairly evil and had everyone yesterday morning giving him estimates ranging from 2K up to 4K

Worked though he even insisted on me buying a rope to match the new head collar

Rhandir,

Nope its a Cates.

To be honest I am fully aware that as himself is currently growing like a weed we will have to call Evelyn out again in a few months and trade in.....

Thanks Rhindar it is certainly very comfortable so hopefully he won't outgrow it too quickly!

Cally H thanks for that I am very proud of my hopeless horse who has done wonders in the last year since his accident especially as I had a vet advise me last year that if I wanted to do Dressage I had best have him PTS, claim the insurance and buy a new one! Hence my decision to have him re-started as a western horse.

Bless him he was re-started in march and has come on so well in 3 months and is indeed now moving beautifully
