I have a friend who works on a yard an hours drive away. Apparently theres a lot of work to do there at the moment so he leaves there late, about 6pm sometimes. So when he gets home it's too late and he's too tired to come to the yard. So I look after his horse for him, he rings me all the time to tell me what to do, and answers all my questions.
He wants to compete, but doesn't have time to ride her through week. So his horse hasn't been ridden for ages. She's the type of horse who when you bring her into work, either broncs until she gets you off, or she threatens to rear or bronc. So I won't get on her first. But I'm starting to get the weight off her and start lunge work and ride and lead work. Then he will ride her and then I'm going to exercise her through the week so he can just jump on and compete at weekends.
This suits me, like having a free horse, and I'm happy having two horses to play with
But people at the yard keep saying, 'why should you have to do it all the time' 'why doesn't he come down' etc. I want them to just leave me to it, and stop moaning about it. Its not as though they have to do anything with her. And I don't have a problem doing it, so I don't see why they should.
