Farrier came out today and reshod Hector, he was really pleased with the amount of foot he hads grown, and the front feet looked loads better, but when it came to holding the off fore up, Hector nearly went over backwards, he is excellent to shoe normally, and in the end the farrier had to give up and clench up with his foot down.

Trotted him up and he looks awful behind, am so upset as thought once the front feet were sorted he might start to improve, but obviously the problem is the back end, and he cant manage to lift a front leg for any length of time and put his wieght on the hinds.

Farrier suggested an excellent psyhio, but I have the feeling it is something to do with the old injury to his pelvis, it isnt looking good, and will have to wait till tuesday now to speak to my vet, unless it is deemed an emergency which I dont think it is

Sorry this is a completely pointless post, but is all I can do to stop myself bursting into tears

Big hugs!

Bloody horses - always seem to know when it's after hours - or the week end - or especially a bank holiday!

Oh lordy

Big hug to you honey xxxxxxxxx

I remember (vaguely I have to admit) reading another recent post about Hector. I don't know all the details but I really would give physio a try if you can find a good one.
The vets wrote my horse off yrs ago (joint/sacro iliac issues) and with the right management and physio he is now doing fabulously and in full and normal work.
If you want to keep trying investigate the physio avenue. Have you tried any joint supps?
I hope I am not way off the point here as I can't remember all the history.

Teapot OT but what has happened to your signature? I ask because I tend to recognise who people are by the photos in their sig

Oh I am soooo sory for you. Please don't give up yet. You have to be strong for him. I wish you soooooo much good luck and best wishes. Chin up.. xxxxxxxxxx

Oh honey, I'm so sorry. Reading this all I could think of was those stunning photos of you out hacking him the other day. I really have everything crossed that a good physio will help. Sending you both lots of hugs xxxxx

Lots of hugs, I think I know how you must feel because I've spent most of this week in tears over Jim. I really really hope it isn't as bad as you fear, presumably your farrier doesn't think it is or he wouldn't bother suggesting the physio - I often think farriers are badly undervalued, they seem to see far more than we give them credit for.

Speak to the physio, it might be that he's been compensating for his front feet for so long that he's become tight further along his back.

(((Hugs))), now have a good cry, a stiff drink & spend some time with Hector tomorrow.
