I've just had my mares front shoes taken off :( now that makes me realise that shes an old lady now! I've kept them on in the hope that I could lose some weight to ride her again, but I can't! its such a challenge! so she's 28 and shoeless for the first time since I've had her!

a token pic of my girl

Not to be personal but what's stopping you losing weight? If its not medical have you tried slimming world? I've just rejoined and am wobbling along on the right track, could buddy up in our weight loss if you wanted? Extra incentive an that :-)

to be fair I don't have that much to lose im just really struggling! im a ww girl though and through but working full time, studying, hairdressing in the evenings so not finding the time to eat as well as I can! but even if I lost a stone, she's only a small girl, I wouldn't really want to much too much weight on her at her age! and im 5'7 so will never be less than 10ish stone! still think that's too heavy

no not really, I did consider the idea of getting someone small to ride her but she isn't the most sensible of horses, bolts, jogs and likes to go somewhere at full speed, I think at her age she needs to slow down but not sure i'd trust someone else to care as much as I would! she has started taking my little cousins up the lane and back, which she can do shoeless! and im going to see how she feels about being long lined too

oh but if you want someone to help with the weight loss im cool to buddy up! I am trying but in the 5 yrs I've been a ww'er its never been so hard!! hopefully once I've finished college and the horses come in then I might find it easier!

Shes 28? Credit to you.a lovely lady growing old gracefully :)

Bless you, thanks!! Think I've just been very lucky with her! she seems to keep herself looking so good! she's lived out for the last 12yrs! she didn't need feeding either until about 5yrs ago! and now she's on a really small simple feed! so its more luck I think! :)

Bless her. She is a lovely girl!! If she ever decides to act her age then I will get on her once I've had this baby!

If your just going to walk down the lanes (haha!) think you'd be fine on her xx

thanks bird, I'm sure she would be fine in walk but with me on her she will instantly go into trot! once you've had baby, you're more than welcome to have a plod on her :) to be fair, that would be good timing coz ill be riding Sam by then too :) can go out together. Ill keep her lunging gently to keep slightly fit for you hehe
