Frosty start to the weekend. Forecast here says were back to mild but 'gusty winds' and rain by Sunday.

No riding plans for me this weekend. My hack last week was great but not great for the fatigue (totally worth it!) Today I'm writing for a BD event for the first time. Many, many layers are being worn. Prey for my writing hand in the cold! ✍ 😂

Dima has his new shoes on and is feeling a-mazing! If anything a little too well but I love riding him when he is cheeky and has a bit of swag.

We're meant to be at a BD pre-Area Festival run on Sunday but with 50mph winds forecast, I'm not so sure about travelling 70 miles on open motorways...

We then have our first dressage lesson since August booked for Monday, really looking forward to getting a grilling as know I've got sloppy on our enforced break.
Hope to get some tips on riding trot half pass and help support him with a bit more fluency in them.

Then Tuesday we have a jump lesson booked which again, I'm really looking forward to.

Thankfully both lessons are indoors and if nothing else I'll get more comfortable driving the new lorry!

Good luck all competing and have fun everyone!

Not ridden all week. Everything totally frozen and icy. Indoor SJ Sunday though. Not jumped since November so will take it steady.
I liked for the SJ not for the everything frozen! Hope SJ goes well :)

I take back what I said about cold hands, we were in a heated hut - luxurious! A lovely morning of writing in the sunshine and a very good first experience volunteering with a BD event so will look to do more :)

We are thawing out as of tomorrow (today was ridiculously icy, I'm lucky I don't have to cross much of the yard to turn out!), I have non-riding plans tomorrow morning, but hoping to sneak in a ride at some point in the afternoon, and a lesson Sunday morning at home with my regular instructor who is lovely.

RC music qualifier tomorrow. Changed my floor plan on Wednesday so hope I remember it! Sunday will be weather dependent. Looks a bit scary - hate wind as stables have huge oak trees nearby which are protected. Great for shade in the summer though.

Have fun all and stay safe.

Hoping to do some work with my gelding this weekend. The weather has been so frustrating and limiting. I don't have an arena and the roads round me have been first flooded, then frozen and now huge potholes have appeared so can't really drive anywhere either. Just planning some groundwork - he's been off games with a cough for nearly 4 months now - but at least if the ground unfreezes we can work towards fittening him up and getting back on again.

I'm going to try and get my 2 on the lunge this weekend before I ride as they have been feral since before Christmas so it will probably be highly exciting for them both, I might even try and clip one as they resemble yaks at the moment 😂

I've only just started to feel half normal after a vile virus I have had its literally taken weeks to go🤧

I think we're going straight from ice to high winds. People are hacking on the roads near me but it's not appealing. Less appealing in high winds as half the local building site becomes detached and goes flying.

I lunged yesterday on my paddock with the long grass and just did some work over poles. I was supposed to film an e-riders test but I'm going to push that into Feb I think.

I'm very likely withdrawing from BD tomorrow as forecast 56mph winds with gusts on top of that... I do find it frustrating that is deemed safe for people to travel with horses!!

In good news, I sold my old horsebox today to the first people to view, who paid full asking price 😀 so a good weekend regardless.

Considering I just made plans to collect my friend at 8am tomorrow morning to go to a clinic, only to find out that tomorrow is NOT the 4th Feb (date of the clinic) .... are we really SURE there are two January weekends left? How long is January even ...
Definitely feels like the longest January ever!

Just thawed out and we have storm Isha and then strong winds for the next week.

Decided to give up and turn Bo away until the end of January. Hopefully February will be a bit kinder to us!

This morning was swimming in the cold lake at 4.5 degrees. It was rather chilly.

This afternoon was a XC technique lesson indoors. I haven't ridden much this week, everything was frozen and I had other stuff to do anyway. That made BH a little more awake than usual and, until he'd settled, there were shenanigans. All finished well tho. Jumped a lovely course with brush, skinnies, a corner, water tray etc.

Tomorrow is life-admin!!!

Went to ingatestone for brunch, tack shopping and a general catch up with some horsey friends. Best buy was a Polite hi-viz quarter sheet which is fab. Tested it out on a hack afterwards, luckily we got to the yard just in time to hack out. I like that it just fits on the quarters rather than under or around the saddle.
