I can't believe this weather, just as we had got through a muddy, dark and wet winter, and a cold spring, we finally get a few days of warm and dry weather and you start to think that horse owning might actually be fun after all...........No such luck! My two spent about a month out a grass until last week when I had to start bringing them back in at night again if only for them to dry out and have somewhere dry to rest. They are back in rugs (albeit lightweight) and almost in a winter routine again!

I do sometimes wonder why I have horses as they and the rubbish english weather seem to rule my life. Please Mr sun put your hat on and give us horse owners a break and a smile on our faces

It's a common misconception that horses are easier when they're out at grass but really, if you add up the time it amounts to about the same as they were stabled! Just the weather makes it better / worse! we've not had half the rain you guys have had, but mine stay in all year anyway so doesn't make a difference!

I love when mine is stabled. I get there, tie her up, muck out, dust her off and we're good to go. When she's out, I have a ten minute amble down the side of the mountain, which in fairness is quite pleasant, but this is followed by the dreadful, sweaty, panting, heart-bursting, twenty minute slog back up to the yard with a whinnying mass of muddy vegetation in tow.
