Ok well, today has been a stupendous day :D:D:D

Sun has been shining, shining, shining, Not a cloud in the sky and Ive been chilling in the garden with the dogs.

I went to the yard, poo picked the field clean (very rewarding). Lunged benny boos (was too hot for him to carry me too!) he did some lovely brisk walk, trot over three trotting poles in a row - this made me incredibly happy... up until recently he has been pretty lazy even just over one pole, but he positively bounced over these keeping perfect rhythm and elevation. He had a tiny (18 inch) straight pole on the other side of the school and cleared this lovely then breaking into what became a really nice steady, smooth and balanced canter, we worked through the entirety of the school, I broke a sweat, and I am pretty sure ben was grinning :D :D :D

I also had big big smiles upon meeting bennys new roommates... a nest full of baby swallows :D I gave them all a peptalk not to fall out of the nest into bennys snooze patch:o. honestly mummy and daddy could have had any spot in the stable, so they went for the most dangerous one there!

My website went live, but I decided to hold off on the advertising until I have a landline put in (currently we have calls diverted to the mobile and its just not practical) Anyway, even though we have not yet advertised I got my first paying customer today and had another enquiry which hopefully will become another client, whoop whoop!

I sold my saddle on ebay... and bought exactly the one I want...

I tanned today, but didnt burn, had sticky ribs done on the BBQ (yum) then went down the harbour and got some lobster straight off the boat from my mate (3 for £20!) thats tomorrows tea!

I am now having wine :D

Lots of little things that have made me smile today... how about you

Riding out at 7am today, looking upto the Cotswolds covered in early morning mist, and accompanied by birdsong, and not a horsefly in sight!!

That post made me smile QB! :)

I have had a fantastic day. First day of my week's annual leave started, after a horrendously busy weekend at work. Couldn't have picked a more beautiful week ahead weather wise if I tried (booked this week off months ago as it's my bday on Weds..though I am trying to block that one out!).

Took my cat to the vet today for a check on his heart, as he has a heart murmur (I hand reared him from 2/3 weeks old so panic over slight things with him and 'over mother' him :rolleyes:) and they said it is sounding absolutely fine, and commented on how fantastic he is looking condition wise. The vet also gave him a kiss on his chops for being so 'gorgeous' (in the vet's own words). Que one gushingly sickly mum..lol!:o

I then had my first ever lesson on my gee gee (not my actual first lesson - just on her! My last lesson was actually 18 years ago on my old pony  ) and it was fantastic - gave me so much motivation, and some lovely compliments were made too which surprised me.:). Got some lovely pics of my girl stood whilst waiting for the instructor to arrive and realised just how beautiful she is and how much she really means to me - things are starting to click into place now!

I actually feel on top of the world today, and looking forward to tomorrow so much!

You lucky swine!! Lol!! Cotswolds are absolutely stunning - must be amazing to ride around there. :)

My pony greeted me with a whinny, she has only recently started doing that so it still surprises me and makes me smile :)

The hot guy at costa smiled at me :D

Stacey the ferret insisted on attacking my brother when he was playing on the PS3. She kept hiding under the tv, then when he stopped looking at her, she'd charge at him, jump on him, bite and run off really pleased with herself. Watching him get even more and more annoyed and Stacey getting bolder in her attacks and enjoying them more, it was truly priceless and i nearly wee'd myself laughing at them :D

Gavin the ferret spent almost 30min, trying to fit into a normal sized envelope, i didn't work so he settled on just fitting his head and front paws in it :D

I had a really yummy salad for dinner and now sitting on sofa with dog curled up next to me, watching tv and drinking tea :D

For some reason my Sec D was 'smiling' today. He hates the heat so has spent the last few days in a grump but for some reason was cheerful today and was nice company while I was poo picking. Just had a break up so it currently takes a lot to make me smile, thank god for horses!

I am halfway through two weeks annual leave and couldn't have timed out better with the weather.

Spent the morning poo-picking, ragworting and clearing up. Sat under a tree in Marjorie's field with a good book. Lovely ride around Aylesbeare common. Marjorie super with three gates. She may make a trail house yet.... Got some MA work done. Got the house ready for a friend who is coming to stay for 3 days tomorrow.

Simple things....

Good grief, that is one amazing house - to make it all the way around a common!!

I got a bit hot and grumpy at work today due to the furnaces grrr!

Drove home, had a can of cider in the field and watched my animals - pure bliss :)

Your post has made me smile too :D and yes ^^^ this ^^^ exactly how I feel :D I have even been spurred on to look into booking one of my dream holidays... dartmoor on horseback with ben for next year, when he is up to longer stints under saddle... I quite like the look of this place :D

http://www.lowertownfarmdartmoor.co.uk/bb/prices_terms

sadly financially, my other dream riding holiday the african horseback safari will have to wait until later down the line!

love this post^^^ made me chuckle :D

this post made me chuckle too! It reminded me of ben... he is an awkward tuss in that his temperament makes dealing with him in terms of his age pretty darn difficult. Many people on here will insist that a horse should not be ridden/worked everyday at that age (and indeed I do not) they also would say that perhaps four days is a max for a four year old. In addition they would say that a baby should be out 24/7 again, not something I necessarily disagree with but not in this heat:eek:. Anyhow, ben gets seriously narky when he doesnt get ridden... to the point where his face is positively evil and I wonder if he is satans spawn... its the kind of face you see on a real mardy mare:rolleyes: his ears go back, his mouth screw up tense and he nods up and down with impatience to the point that you think he should be in a heavy metal band... Since Ive been dying from flu/cold/kiss of death disease... He has had a few days off... so today it literally made me sooo happy to be able to work him and see that miserable mug dissolve into a happy chappy, and whilst he loves his field, i have never known a more snuggly horse... he adores his time out in his stable... proper lying out for the count in his comfy bed and catching some zzz's in this heat.

Welsh D, what do you do for work :D as to the cider... cheers chicken :D

It definately is the simple things, Im reminded of my teenage hacks around daccombe in torquay... I would be blissfully happy but scorched and tired, riding home and pickles and I would paddle in a lake... the lake looked to me like pure ambrosia... Clear running water, running over pebbles... looked like crystal, mirages... the last drop of water in the world... when you get a moment like that... its the bestest feeling ever!

Oh Nah, why so sad? xx

Just lots and lots of little things seemed to have snowballed and I feel slightly out of control of everything, I don't really know what I'm doing with myself, or Ned :( not to mention a nasty sunburn!!

Still, nothing seems too bad when you get cuddles from your favourite ponio! :) x

Nah of there is anything I can do to help or even if you need a drink and a chat let me know - I'm not far away x

My favourite horse at work isnt normally very cuddly, and was being very wary with people recently, but today he rested his chin on my shoulder and let me kiss his snozz.
Just makes me love him all that much more!

I now only have 2 more weeks until I am allowed to ride, ending my 10 month stint without being able to ride!

Guess who I will be asking to ride! :p

Everyone's day sounds lovely! :D All of you have made me smile! :D

Thanks :) have PM'd you. Don't want to hijack!

Another, none horsey thing that made me smile!

A girl ages about 6, gave me a sticker to put on my badge at work. I saw her today and she ran over to see if I still had the sticker and to her delight, it was still there :D

Pretty much the same thing that makes me smile every day, my pony kind of chunters away to me constantly in really soft deep whickers as I wander around the field. And when I ask him a question and he isn't quite sure of the answer (like today doing shoulder in, 10 m circle then travers) he will throw in some spanish walk, because he is pretty sure that should be the answer to most things. It makes me smile every time, especially when it ends up being spanish travers or spanish trot. I grin from ear to ear when I am around him.

QB I work for the owner of two factories that make alloy wheels for cool cars :)
hmmm, yeah... cool cars, but thats still boring welsh D (sorry :()

Ben always nickers to me... its so lovely :D Whenever I ask him a question (whatever question) he nods enthusiastically, that really warms me because ebony used to do that, especially when I asked if she wanted to go hunting, it reminds me of her :D

I so love a whickering pony :) one of mine chats to me when I take him his feed. The other never whickers to my intense disappointment but he does sigh a lot!

My OH has been working really hard this last week and getting home really late most nights so when I went up this weekend I cooked some lovely tasty dinners (if I do say so myself - I'm a rubbish cook ;)), and did the dishes too ;) Did some spring (summer) cleaning around the house, did all the washing and folded all the clothes he'd chucked on his shelves while he was under strict orders to relax and not lift a finger :D

He usually takes brilliant care of me so it was really satisfying to do stuff for him for a change :D And as I told him I don't often get the urge to do housework so when once in a blue moon it happens it's best to make the most of it and just let me get on with it ;)

Then today after I got home I went up to the field to give our companion pony her wormer and had a nice cuddle with my boy :D

Feeling pretty good about a weekend spent spring cleaning :D

Tomorrow my friend is taking me up to the horses and we're going for a hack and after that we are going out for afternoon tea :D

Some of my hack has been over taken by a construction site. We werent bothered !!!

I have a five year old stallion who is in for schooling, owner came to see me and watch me ride, said she thinks i am doing a fantastic job and wants me to keep him to compete bs. Unfortunately for him he won't be a stallion for much longer!

He is so lovely and i really enjoy riding him

A couple of months ago when we were hacking (prior to baby Satan was born) we came across some cyclists, a young lad at the back who had downs syndrome shouted at the entire group to stop so they didn’t scare the horse ! Tess is fine with bikes but it was so sweet of him to think that way, when we caught up with them the boy asked if he could stroke her and Tess was very gentle let him give her head a cuddle and whinnied at him :) He then made them all wait until we had gone a good way up the road before cycling on.

Just made me smile that such considerate people were still out there, I did explain Tess was good with bikes and regularly my mum cycles with me but he wanted to make sure neither of us got hurt or scared !

I admit i was close to crying when it happened

I got an e-mail yesterday-a photo of a pony I used to own being driven in a pair to win first prize by his current owner. I had a few problems with this pony and was lucky to be able to sell him to such a good home. Luckily I didn't have him PTS because he was a dangerous pony, as some idiots on the yard suggested. He just needed a more experienced hand. It was wonderful to receive that e-mail as I loved the little beggar with all my heart despite his quirks.

On our ride we stopped mid ride and boyo bent round to look at me and accepted a fuss behind the ears - a place he doesnt normally let me near :D
